But who knows, thanks anyway.

Well i don't see any new vsonic gr07 under 140 bucks and i got my philips for under 100.  With poweramp on my galaxy with gain boost at 16 db the volume issue isn't a problem at all (listen to it at quarter max volume and at max half which is really loud).  lacks a little on bass for me which is why i was eyeing the vsonic gr07BE, but with nooz software making it a little warmer it is just the right amount of bass.  It also seems to have a short burn in effect but it might just be me getting used to the headphones and getting the fit better.  Overall I really like them.  Was turned off by the ring coming off of them, but i just super glued it carefully back on and doesn't seem like the housing will come out.  Seems like the ring is just there to make it look nicer.  The medium silicon fits well for my ear and comfortable, the comply tips that it comes with isn't large enough for me.  Thinking about getting some ts-200 comply tips, but a bit expensive and i don't think it will really do much for isolation.  just might provide a slightly better fit, but if it doesn't improve on the silicon then its a waste.

I was thinking about getting the S2 which are $150 and the Vsonic can ve had for $170 or so, so that's that. Anyway I just go the Sony XBA-3 so I guess I'm gonna wait a little bit, I'm not set on anything as I'm also very interested in the TDK (BA200 and IE800).

Just received the S1 today. Left me utterly speechless. Achieved the absolute perfect seal, and am honestly overwhelmed by their performance. Now, I'm curious to know if the S2 is merely a different offering, or an improved one. Hmm...

I have a pair up for sale. Make me an offer wink.gif. Nothing wrong with them I just prefer my forward mids to much...

Appreciate the offer, but at the moment, I haven't the necessary funds.

I just ordered my S2's yesterday so they should arrive during next week. I'm really looking forward to try these and see how they perform compared to my current budget favourites VSD1 and CKN70.

The sound is great though but the fit is a little tight.  Not super comfortable but I can have it on for a few hours before my ears hurt.  I think biflange tips would make it much better as it feels like it isn't really deep into the ear.  The mic and button is nice and feels sturdy and button clicks well.  Sound is great although slightly less bass then i would like.

I had the same issue, got a refund today, as both left and right started to split. I also heard that I was the forth customer in the last couple of weeks with the issue.

Can anybody who owns the S2 confirm that it also has the same rubberized ring, or is the housing all made from copper only?

Any comparison between this and HiFiMan RE-400?

Subscribed!

Too bad I ordered some red FXT90, otherwise I would have probably gone for the S2.

+1 I'm equally as curious.

But, by this, we're you referring to the S1, S2, or either? I'd be interested in knowing how the RE-400 pins against either one.

For retail price's sake, S1 vs RE-400 would be nice! A battle between the $99s! But more than welcome to those who compare S2 vs RE-400 as I'm guessing more people have S2 than S1 and they are similar

The S2 sounds more polished but the vocals are more recessed than the 381F and the percussion in the song is much stronger on the S2 as compared to the 381F. The sound stage feels slightly further back on the S2 which for this song feels more natural. Some of the percussion instruments sound a bit more natural on the 381F (can't say the name of the instrument but it makes a scratchy sound LOL). So aside from a bit more grain in the 381F it's almost a wash with IEM showing off what they are best at. I won't commit to it yet because I need to do more A/B comparisons but the price to cost ratio of the 381F is going to be hard to beat especially since I have the premium version of the Fidelio line.

Surprised that the 381F ($23) can compare at all to the S2.

The comparison is strictly based on sound. The build quality of the S2 is leaos and bounds ahead of the 381F as is the appearance. I tried to get a coworker to try out the 381F and based on looks alone he refuses because he assumed they were junk LOL. Looks and build quality aside they offer a compelling sound.

Does anyone know how do these (s1/s2) sound in comparison to Sony MH1? MH1 do sound great, but j-cord and low quality, hard flat cable annoy the hell out of me, so I've been looking for replacement for some time, but finding a great sounding IEMs with android controls is hard. And those Philips look like they might just be the right thing.

And also... What's up with the availability of these Philips in Europe, Amazon etc?

You can buy them at European Amazon stores.
