Same ATH-M50 on Amazon with different price?

Are these the same headphones or are they different version? I don't see any difference.

For the first one does anyone know if it's a later edition (one with the white box) or an earlier one?

Pretty sure it's the same thing but the more expensive one comes with a straight cable.

That really seems odd.  When I was in the market for the M50 several months back, the variant with the coiled cable was always about $15 - $20 more than the version with the straight cable.

I thought the M50S is the one with the straight cable. The ones I posted were both M50.

Edit: Oh I see it now, the less expensive one is being sold directly by Amazon.

One is sold by Amazon, and the other an affiliate. That is pretty much the difference... that I see.

Haha, it is partially true.  The m50 is a bit overratted.  The soundstage and the excess bass was a bit of a turn off when I heard them.  Still in that price range its a decent choice.  So no hate.  I just get annoyed when people say the m50 is boss and someone says something like its the best headphone under 300.

I have the SRH440 for a week now. Very good with vocals, but a little lacking in the bass department. I'm trying out the M50 right now (it has a straight cable, so I'm getting the coiled cable version from Amazon), and so far it sounds really good. More bass, but the mids are still pretty clear and prevalent although not as good as the SRH440. Overall it has a more musical sound and is more fun to listen to. Movies also sound better on the M50. I might just keep both.

One is sold by an affiliate, as mentioned, here's the link to the M50 with the straight-cable, sold by Amazon:

They're still *a bit* more, but not $20. redface.gif
