The Moudaunt Short Festivals brought a tear to my eye. I used a pair of the slightly larger Pageant 2s to great effect for many years.
When they broke I begged MS to fix them for me. They wouldn't. said they couldn't get the parts any more and nothing else was suitable. Also, since I liked them so much perhaps I would like to consider something from their current range? Bah.
Probably a lucky break really as you couldn't sell them today. The specs would look horrible. Lovely bumpy bass and clean tops. Still miss that seventies sound.
Er yes. Where were we? Best nearfield monitors < 8".
This ones easy if you have the cash. ADAM A3X 400 Euro the pair. Bit more in the States.
10" (252 mm) x 6" (150 mm) x 7.5" (185 mm) Front ported too!
Perfect combination of size, power and depth. They claim 60Hz but that's fine on the desktop unless you are a a specialised basshead. In fact the bass extension and accuracy are the most praised aspect of the design. Put them on little stands.
They have a special feature called stereolink which lets you connect them up and control the volume of both from the front of either one. So you can save money or postpone buying an interface.
Try them with the regular line out on your Mac at first. You will get 99% (Est.) of the benefit for 0% extra cost.
Focal and Genelec do similar size models with aluminium chassis. Considerably more expensive though.
