My source will remain the iPhone 6 but I'll be using the HiFi M8 DAC. This has the function to boost lows or highs. Think I'm leaning towards the 13 FP's. Thanks for your "2 cents"
If I'm happy with my SE846s, is there any reason I should look into getting CIEM Laylas or Roxannes? Or even the JH 13 or 16 Pros?
I can't speak for the Laylas or Roxannes but the JH13 will give you 500% more transparency and detail. It's in another statosphere. The JH16..maybe 200% more.
Do you mean that the JH16s will have 200% more than the SE846s or 200% more than even the JH13s (so 700%)?
JH16's will ave twice as much transparency and treble detail as SE846. The JH13 will have about 3X as much transparency and detail as the SE846. It's freakish detail. Like IE800
It's really preference. I love the JH16's and have no issue with clarity it just feels like the 13's with more bass, like having a sub in my ear. I am a musician and typically am the lead singer and play guitar/keys, so I prefer to have a full 'in your face' type sound that the JH16's deliver. The 13's are considered more transparent because the bass bump at 50hz is only +3dB compared to the 16's have +6dB boost at 50 Hz. My favorite thing about the 16's is I get a full sound with all the transparency I need. In my opinion the only reason to use the 13's is if you are a lead singer only. That's what Adam uses in Maroon 5. I have a good friend that is a sound engineer for some top notch artists and he is the one that told me to get the 16's. The advantage of the Roxanne's or Layla's is you can adjust that 50Hz bass boost (if I remember correctly) Let me know if you have any more questions.
I mean... now with the JH13v2's you get variable bass output, adjustable from the cable like the Roxanne's and Layla's have. You're able to control the low frequency drivers with the adjustable bass (0-+10db). I wonder if the JH16 Pro's were updated with FreqPhase, SteelWave Tubes, and the rest that they said would trickle down to the other lines.
