AURALiC owners unite! - Page 6

former Vega owner, I'll be soon also an happy Taurus MKII owner!

I've listened to this fantastic amp in two meetings in Germany, and a couple of times in the dealer showroom, and it sounds incredibly well both with HiFiman HE-6 and with HE-500

I've also quickly auditioned it with a Senny HD800, and the sound was incredible, even if for my taste I prefer HE-500

if someone interested, I'll let you all know how this Vega+TaurusMKII combo perform with my HiFiman HE-500, also versus the other hp setup I got i.e. STAX 323S+507

Former? Was there something wrong with Vega?

sorry, my fault, my english is not so good.... I still have the Vega, I love it and I consider it one of the best sounding DAC I've ever listened to.

for the money it costs, I really think the Vega is an absolute bargain!!!

Agreed.

So out of curiosity, I gathered some information. Auralic actually barred and gave a stand down order on WorldWide Wholesales not sell anything of their inventory!!

Basically the company had several amplifiers,Dacs and headphone amps in stock!

what should they have done...store them? give them away?

Auralic should realize that trying to dictate didn't work in Germany 1940's and will never work in the present.

Be Aware!

That's real ugly. Definitely considering the Vega and now have some serious trepidation.

I'd really rather not support a company displaying such actions.

Nothing new or unusual in that statement surely, a lot of companies do the same. I guess they have contractual agreement with local importers etc which they have to protect -- otherwise who will be want to be their importer lol! As for change of distributor, that is the business between the company & auralic, who knows what is the reason behind it.

I actually misread it as Auralic products sold by WorldWide Wholesales would not be under warranty.

From reading it, "As of March 2013...", I am guessing the warranty is ok for people who bought from WorldWide Wholesales before March as he was still their distributor at that time. Auralic should really make it more clear to their customers - I guess people could always contact auralic to find out their status etc.

I am afraid we will never know the whole story and who was in the right or wrong. Business is business, shouldn't stop you from getting one, as Vega kicks some serious butt. Finally something that can put my Chord DAC64 to retirement. :(

I suppose I have a vested interest as a user of the Taurus, and because my experience with the company has been positive - yet I've never dealt with the WorlWide Wholesale folks before. That said, I really don't know how this type of discussion benefits us end users here at HeadFi. We buy the product, or don't buy it, based on factors such as sound quality, appearance/build quality, and customer service. How the company deals with internal conflict or distributor issues doesn't really seem like it should be our concern.

Obviously we don't know the whole story - user Norway posted that it was a rumor but he had "solid sources". Is that the kind of discussion we want around here? Someone else could easily come here and claim to have heard the exact opposite, and we'd have no way of discerning fact from fiction. Auralic or the distributor could make their own account here and try to poison the well with misinformation and we'd have no way of knowing who was who.

I'm not saying we shouldn't question any companies or any distributors. When the end user gets screwed for some reason, we should be all over the guilty party until they change their ways and make it right. But that's not what we have here. So far we've got an obvious conflict, a parting of ways, and a really hazy rumor about what happened. Is that worth bothering with? If Auralic has a falling out with the janitorial service who cleans their facilities, do I need to know about that as well? Where does it end? No, for me, I think the best course of action is to stay out of that type of "he said, she said" discussion. And I think this forum would be better for it as well.

All that matter is they give us what we want $D

Let them fight, they'll be punished after reincarnation....

Tomorrow I'll see if the Taurus can handle the HE6...

Nice - I have an HE-6 on the way as well, so I'm in the same boat as you.

Hi Andrew, I would be grateful if you can elaborate on how the Vega improves on the Dac64. I have the Dac Mkll and I am currently considering the Vega as a possible upgrade. I will be feeding the source into the BHSE + SR009. Thanks in advance.
