I WOULD be totally finished right now, but TANGSTER got me thinking about changing the silver fencing from silver to black, so I'm working on that now too.

This is how they turned out :)

Well, I'm finally finished putting them back together. They turned out great! Now I just have to get some black velour pads and transplant my black forks from my 770s and they'll be perfect.

I'm glad I painted the part behind the fencing red as well, seeing it through the fencing looks pretty cool. There was a piece of thin black cloth behind the fencing before, I just didnt put it back in. If you have them in the right light you can see the drivers :D

This is the thread I started about doing the detachable mod on my DT770's. Same process as the 880. The bottom of the first page shows more detailed pictures.

It was very easy.

i am surprised you were not able to get the silver ring off. I bought a brand new set of DT880 pro and the ring fell of a couple of days later when i grabbed them to adjust the headband. it seems that beyerdynamic uses some silicone glue to attach the rings. I just glued it back.

I heated them up and still couldn't get it off. It was on there really well, I think they used some kind of epoxy or something. Maybe your pair was made at a different time when they were using different glue. If yours just fell off, that would be a good reason to use whatever was on mine.
