Portaphile '627X + Cowon J3' or iBasso DX100 ??

OK, ok, I know it's a bit outrageous to contemplate feeding an amp of the calibre of the 627 with a lowly Cowon J3.

 

I know!

 

So, having got that admission out of the way, I still wish to know if anyone has this combination to compare with a DX100 (the DX100 on it's own, I mean, not feeding a 627)

 

I have a Cowon J3, funds are tight, and I'm considering if my best way forward is to buy a DX100 or to instead buy a 627 and strap it to my J3.

 

The Cowon is not a true audiophile player but it's all I have at the moment.

 

So, if any of you can ignore the shortcomings of the J3 and have actually heard the 627 being fed with a J3, and have also heard a DX100 on it's own, I would be very grateful for your comparisons in sound quality.

In all honesty, no.

 

 

Again, I do fully appreciate the shortcomings of the J3.

J3 have no line out, if you prioritize SQ above all else, the Dx100 will win out againt a cowon no matter what you did to it
