Looking for a new DAP for under $400

Hello I am going to buy a pair of Mr.Speakers mag dogs and am looking to also upgrade my DAP (my old creative zen vision m 60gb died). I am looking for something that will pair well with the headphones I am buying but I will also be getting in the future a E12 I think or something along those lines. I like all types of music but my mains are rock, country and pop. Any help would be great thanks in advance

That looks great thanks for the heads up I know it's not out yet but how do you think it will stack up to the Cowon Z2 with a third party music app like poweramp, neutron?

There is a good chance it will stack up nicely, iirc with powrramp you are actually using the enhancement effect from cowon owns player, the fiio x3 is also cheaper, the sound quality assuming they are making it the fiio e17 in dap clothing is very very good for its pricing

Best way to find out is to ask a Z2 owner (start a new thread or ask in the thread for it) who also has a Fiio E17 then ask him to compare the two. The X3 is essentially the E17 with a player (screen, car reader, controls, etc), so basically a properly set-up computer (Foobar, ASIO) with an E17 should be a good indicator.
