Thanks HideousPride!
It's my little sanctuary, no TV, just pure sound.

Stax Sr-007 with amp can sometimes be found for 2K used. Even the lambda signatures are better than the LCD2.

Fixed. There is only 1 kind from the very old line unless you're referring to the newer frame lineup the LNS. But otherwise agreed

While I'm not sure about the credibility of the first part. His got the second part right. Any of the old Lambda/new Lambda frame stats are better than the LCD2's regardless of amplification and revision if you're in pursuit of soundstage, imaging, detail retrieval, clarity and balanced neutrality. The only thing the LCD2's have adv over the Lambda's is the looks and it's deep bass, ortho house sound and the ability to be powered easily from any DAP or amp.

You kinda had me worried DefQon until you mentioned the deep bass part.
Me likes deep bass!

Not saying they don't have bass, the bass is more accurate, tight and punchy. For reference my Lambda Pro's with the new 202 black pads have more bass impact, more up front in your face and more accurate without smearing the rest of my music than my LCD2's or any of the LCD2's I have heard for that matter. Stat's only produce the bass when it's called for. The LCD2's don't have the best bass reproduction out of everything I've heard that matter. Sure it sounds nice, but it wears off once you've heard it and over the hype.

Also depends on what particular Stax headphone you're after, if you want stat quality sound which is superior to the LCD2's without breaking the bank, a set of vintage Lambda's with the suitable adapter or amp or the ESP950 is the way to go.
