Did you get yours from stereodesk.com? I didn't know the existence of this website. I assume it is a reliable store.
I got my HM901 and iem card from stereodesk.com http://stereodesk.com/collections/portable-players/products/the-hifiman-hm-901 Just email them.
They have a very nice selection of audio gear, even a turntable of $53,000.00 http://stereodesk.com/collections/phono/products/saskia-reference-ii-turntable
I think that it's a store focused in very high quality products.
I'm pretty happy with their service too, it's extraordinary.

Can someone please tell me why they can't just add this simple feature:

I want to press the previous/back button (upper right) on the home screen to return the currently playing song. This is like a no brainer and ridiculously easy to program:

receive "previous/back" button callback:
if a song is currently playing and at home screen -> pretend user pressed "Now Playing" button

Seriously....

When you are at "Main Menu" - press "Home" button, and you are directed to "Now Playing". In other words, the functionality is already there. From anywhere else: Press "Home" twice and you are directed to "Now Playing".

LarsHP, honestly, that is retarded. It should just got back to what I'm currently playing. C'mon now...my Clip+ does this!

That's what I am trying to say. It goes back to "Now Playing" = the currently playing track, when you press "Home" (once or twice depending on where you are.

The "Previous" button skips to - ta-daaa - the previous track.

That is really intuitive too...

Thanks though, that's is indeed what I wanted!

EDIT: CUE support still causes infinite reboot syndrome.

HiFiMAN HM-901 - a review in progress: Factory visit pg 18. IMGS pg 19. DSD b...

I don't know if there are people still interested in the $999 original version on the hifiman hm901 with the standard amp card, since I see that more and more people are buying dedicated amp cards depending on the headphones they are using. For those still interested, bad news for you frown.gif

I contacted head-direct a few days ago asking when the $999 DAP will be available and here is their answer:

"Dear Sir,

Thank you for your interest in HM-901.

We do not sell HM-901 with standard amp card any more, only with balanced card, IEM card and Minibox card.

Sorry.

Best regards,

HIFIMAN Customer Service Team"

Interesting. I guess my fully functional stock card is a rarity now. I haven't used it much since I purchased the balanced card, anyone want to buy it?

I use the balanced card most of the time.

Well I'm holding onto mine.... we should:

1. keep it as LNIB for another 6 mth until no one remembers how they sounded like

2. get all who have std amp to start a hype train I mean a thread on how glorious these sound with so little power consumption

3. ????

4. PROFIT

Well in all seriousness they do sound alright with most pairing and can sound great with some sensitive multi-BAs....

It always sounded fine to me. I guess they felt there wasn't enough of a difference or maybe a technical reason. The balanced card sound very good and all my phones are balanced so that is the main reason I keep the balanced card in but the stock card sounded good as well.

Yeah in the grand scheme of things it's really not a "bad" sounding card at all. I just don't use it often enough to justify keeping it around. I don't like to keep gear for the sake of it anymore lol.

Maybe Head-Direct / HiFiMan didn't sell enough 901's with Standard amp after the IEM amp card (and combo) has been offered to justify continuing it.

With HM802 going to hit the market soon, Hifiman is probably just upgrading HM901 package to better differentiate the two players.
