Looks like f/w 1.082 is out.

So far I can't find the ChangeLog to this firmware update yet but it looks like Hifiman skipped the 1.081 official & 1.082 beta & went straight to 1.082 official.

It is 1.082beta actually.

Fixes include:

1) Change of file format filter, repair .aif support.

2) Change of battery display.

3) Automatic error log during freeze / abnormal shutdown to better track down the root of cause / file.

4) Bugfix: Change of file's date causing repeated database update in exFAT.

5) Bigfix: Certain m4a file causing reboot

6) Bugfix: Menu / display mess up due to gapless playback on incomplete / unplayable file.

7) Bugfix: Reboot due to file delete and unsuccessful file deletion

Did it fix the "fading in"/"missing first 2 seconds" issue? This had been the one thing that have an impact on my daily usage....

ClieOS, really!? On the Japanese site it said 1.082 official :

@HiFiMAN_Japan: HiFiMAN HM-901の新ファームウェアVer.1.082 Official を公開します.

TWC is the designated Hifiman distributor. Guess they got it wrong?

Thx for the ChangeLog. Kinda disappointed no improvement on the DSD support side.

I got those info from customer service's post in the HifiMan forum @ erji.net as well as Hifiman.cn (their Chinese official site), so I'll say it should be accurate.

Maybe I am imagining things but did it not speed things up a bit?

I just installed the new update (1.082) and I've noticed an improvement in the issue that you mention. I think that are not mentioned in the log cos' it was a symptom of other issues (I think this cos the behavior of the player about this was very unpredictable in my case).

I just installed the new update and I 've noticed...nothing. Hold on! the battery meter looks different,  while compilations still appear as different albums.

I am also looking forward to seeing the 2 second problem at the beginning of the songs fixed.

I love the sound reproduction of the 901, but some times I feel the as the whole thing is in beta stage, software and hardware issues. Today I am sending mine back, because it has battery issues. I hope the replacement one works better. I heard that some people have had problems with the scrolling wheel and buttons.

For $1000, I was expecting a better DAP. I don't know if some feel the same. I just hope we are not the "guienea pigs" and then in a year or so, they come up with a better DAP all together.

I am not giving up yet. I am expecting my new 901 in the next couple of weeks, they are out of stock in most places. I hope this new one works better.

Sorry, for this comment, but I feel a little frustrated after having spent all this money.

Other thing I wanted to mention. I purchased the balanced amp and I couldn't get the battery out of the player. It is extremely tight, unless it was glued (haha). But seriously, I couldn't get it out frown.gif

Like most people I hold tight hoping most firmware issues will be solved because it just sounds superb but if there is no improvements in a  couple of months I will just get a Sony F886.

I am ok with the firmware now, but the battery drains VERY fast. Is it me or does it discharge even when the player is off? I left it overnight and it seems it partly discharged? Or maybe it was the firmware update that sucked out the battery.
