Best Headphones For Dubstep and Trap : Under $165

Mew, I saw your review on the Fostex TH7BB's. I understand how you like the sound, but would they provide head-thumping (or skull-thumping) bass when provided a mod? Also, do the TH7BB's leak more or less than the Crossfade LPs?

Now to talk about the Sony XB500's. Would Electri-Q be a really good EQ? Could anyone direct me to a thread with information about using Electri-Q for Foobar2000?

Are there any good FLAC players that are downloadable? It would be nice if it add a decent amount of Dubstep and Glitch Hop music :p

I've found that amping the XB500 isn't worth it. I believe that almost every headphone benefits from external amping. And while the XB500 does, the improvement is so marginally small that it's not worth the cost of an amplifier, unless you go with something like the Fiio E5, which has some bass roll-off.

And you mention how you weren't blown away by the sound of the XB500. Now do you see why we recommended the Crossfades over them? I think you and a lot of other young audiophiles expect to get these headphones and have the world be opened up to you. First off, while these headphones are better, they're not going to floor you as much as something that you saved more money for. Secondly, there are other factors, like your source, amp, and file/recording quality that affect your overall experience.

nah... if you want some skull crushing then you need an amp like a fiio e11 to properly bring out the bass... the sound quality is not good enough on these cheap headphones to really use them for anything else other than bass... without an amp and no eq i don't find the bass that great on them...

But the bit-perfect output with wasapi is good. Winamp also crashed a LOT when I used it.

Well actually that is true, winamp doesn't like wasapi... (crashed like every 30 mins)

So Winamp does use FLAC files, right? Do I have to download FLAC files and then 'import' them into Winamp?

So the LP2 has head-thumping bass and even better SQ then the LPs? Also, I'm guessing they have the same comfort as the LPs?

Winamp plays FLAC files just fine. Just handle them like your mp3 counterparts.
(note it can't play png and jpeg files though

)

Not heard the LP2 myself so cant comment.

Okay, I don't have much hopes in the Sony XB500's. I am currently listening to the Crossfade LPs, and man, you can tell that the LPs have a better SQ than the XB500's.

I'm seriously considering to pack it up for now and return my Sony XB500's. Then, I might get headphones on Christmas.

EQ bro.
And dubstep barely sounds different on Flacs and they cost money, unless you wanna pirate them and its extremely hard to find dubstep in flacs, just get 320Kbs files, they are only a little worse then FLACs in SQ.
The XB500s will sound great with a little EQ!
They should rumble and shake on your head.
Unless they are fake? Because ive never heard someone say that the XB500 didnt have enough bass :p
