Out $500 and very disappointed in SwimSonny - Page 2

Not sure if it's worth filing small claims case, but if the seller guaranteed satisfaction is a slam dunk.

Does Mark Lawton have an account here? I would like Mark to confirm that indeed the cable is bad, the dampening is terrible and the pads are smoky. Either on this thread or PM would be fine.

I would be willing to ship to OP for the cost of shipping, after Mark's confirmation, the remains of my broken D2000 set.

In particular, the enclosure and drivers and the pads should be salvagable (although the cable is pretty kinked up and the frame is broken).

I did not want to get in a argument with the guy. If his allegations were true i would probably be banned for a start. Secondly it was the best Denon me and many others had ever heard. Thirdly the cable is the highly regarded toxic cables one, hardly low quality. Then he said smells of smoke and considering i have never smoked a cigarette in my life and live in a smoke free house thats quite amazing they smell of smoke. At the end of the day he did not just ask for a refund but said i sold him a faulty unit that did not read true. It seemed like he never wanted to keep them and just wanted to try and thats what rung alarm bells. my dad who actually bought modded and sold them and just used my account as he cant have one as jude things i am messing around with two accounts as same IP address so he used mine to sell it. My dad refused to refund and thats end of story. You can seem i am a keen poster and a honest seller trader from my past feed back and i would not do this to jeopardise my position here.

Hope you understand.

Thanks for the message!

Well there's two sides to every story, but...I wouldn't do business with him.

Smoke smell can come from the solder work in the cups. Touch plastic and it lingers. Swim. regardless of who's they were or sold them, if it's your account and satisfaction was part of the bargain, more should have been done.

If the allegations are true you probably should be banned!  You should man up and refund the buyer his money!  Argh, I better stop typing..mad.gif

Swim, this is the ad and it says something very different

"I had these from new stock and have never really liked them even though many people have fallen in love with my pair. Over the time to try and make it better i have fully lawton modded them. i did do the pads stuffed with foam but did not like comfort and sound like that so removed it but can do if you want.

I can also recable them as the stock cable is a pain. If you want i will recable them for £50 extra with a toxic cable and neutrik jack."

I suspect you did recable since you said he got the Toxic cable. That could easily account for a smoke smell unless very well done.

if solder smoke would linger,  most cans would smell...no? blink.gif

I loathe the lack of accountability. I am selling on behalf of my father, so despite mentioning the availability of a refund, I refuse a refund! WTF?

So this has just been brought to my attention. I'm not sure what has happened with this, and I'm not sure what action was eventually taken. However, the curious in me is wondering if any sterner action will be taken with people who use their accounts to sell stuff on behalf of others. I nearly got scammed this way, with the whole "my friend used my account" which triggered from reading "my dad was using the account" type scenario.

Anyhow, I hope it all works out right but leaving it unanswered as well just seems odd.

this  is what happens when people trust this famous reviewers who most of the time they get the gear they are reviewing directly from the manufacturer as a result the review ends up being conditioned and biased.

It's nothing to do with necessarily getting the items directly from the manufacturer but if you are getting the stuff for free more than anything else...
