I don't have anything more specific than my favorite being post-hardcore and hip hop.. but it ranges daily. I'm listening to Wiz Khalifa but an hour ago I was listening to a Live album of Celia Cruz (salsa).. I do like bass, but I don't want anything unneccessary like what Beats would give me.

The top recommendation I've seen from lurking is ATH-M50s.. or maybe it used to be the most recommended. What are the others?
From my research i suggest m-80s from v-moda or senn. Momentum.

The skull-candy 'Aviators' are definitely better than the Audio Technicas, and one that is a no-brainer is the Shure SRH550DJ, the Shures are nigh on perfect. And the Ultrasone HFI-580 simply kick ass with accuracy all-round. All three of these are immensely better than the Audio Technica ATH-M50.

The Ultrasones are about $129, and a damn good buy, the Shures can be gotten for $100, and the Skull-Candy Aviators are about $249. My pick of the three would be the Shures, i have all three of these headphones.

That Audio Technica ATH-M50 is old-hat man, let it go, take it back, and grab one of these ones i mentioned; just give them 30 hours burn-in and your pumping; all three headphones i have mentioned give perfect bass, not too much, not too little, and the rest of the audio spectrum in all three headphones is clear and present and balanced. I drive the Shures with a FiiOE11 and it sounds fantastic, nice and clear and accurate. I even closely compared the Shures with the latest Monster-diamond series III headphones from Beats by Dre and the Shures are easily as good in every way, but the beats by dre have harder thumping (slightly unnatural) bass; and i also compared the Shures to the Beyer&Wilkins P5 (which Beyer says has space-age new technology in them) but the Shures simply kick-ass all round, they back down to no one.
