How can I connect a Nintendo 64 to my Sony Bravia?

Hi!

You might think that using an HDTV to play Nintendo 64 is rather pointless, but I like to play Nintendo's older gaming systems from time to time, and I don't own an older TV. I have a Nintendo NES that works great on my TV and I had no problems connecting it. But when I try to connect the Nintendo 64 I can't make it work. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I'm connecting the cables exactly where I place the NES cables and the TV displays a message that says "no signal". These are the cables that come with the N64:

.

If it matters, I own a Sony Bravia KDL-32BX330. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated!

That's strange. You're sure the N64 and the cables in question work on other TVs, right? Seems like a silly question to ask, but I'm honestly surprised that the NES would work with it and the N64 wouldn't.

I can't help you without having the exact HDTV model in question, though. Even then, I'm the type who would RGB-mod N64s for pixel-perfect picture quality, and I'm even less certain of how an HDTV would react to a 240p RGB signal coming through its DE-15 VGA input, or through its component inputs if transcoded using a device like a CSY-2100.

My HDTV is a KDL-32BX330.

I tested the N64 with an older TV and it works, so it's not the console or the cable.

I know this sounds stupid, but did you switch to "AV1" or "AV2"? normal_smile%20.gif

What are the ports labeled as? Sometimes on Sony TVs you can block inputs from being used. It's in the menu system. I have an XBR3 Sony. You can also buy an Svideo or Component cable too if needed and try that. I would suggest looking for one at a used Video Game store..

for best picture you may want to get an upscaler depending on how serious you are about it, these can range from relatively cheap to super crazy expensive
