It's presentation can be changed with different pads and can be ran from speaker amps, saving the need for a headphone amp.
Yeah i'm hoping to get them fixed soon so they can be sold to finance the HE500s. I was floored by the HE6, to be honest even more than the LCD3. But I can't afford those...At least I don't need to sell the D1 and buy another amp!

If you get the HE-500s take a look at this amp (Emotiva mini X a-100).  Although you will still need a DAC.  But the a-100/Maverick D2 DAC is a killer combo.

The amp will goes on sale for under $200 as soon as any holiday hits - just keep your eyes out.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely look into it. I remember reading about the a100, so would you advise just selling the D1 then? Also, do you know of any good dacs for the HE500 that are under $100? I'm trying not to get too expensive, and the D2 would mean an extra $200

You can always get the ODAC until you can get a different one.

Hmm got me interested in the emotiva. I'll probably jump on it the next time a sale comes around or if I can find a used one~.

That tubemagic D2 intrigues me.  Would a tube DAC synergize better with a tube amp like the Valhalla as opposed to a solid state DAC?  I was looking at the Bifrost, but I'm still learning about a lot of this stuff as I go.

Usually the rule of thumb would be SS amp with tube DAC or Tube amp with SS DAC or SS amp with SS DAC.

Not many use tube amp with tube DAC - but I guess it will work.  Might by to dark sounding with orthos.  Who knows..

The Schitt stuff is a good vale as well.

I think someone ended up with my D2s power cord, i either left it on the chairs up front, or maybe on the ground by the tables up front. I figure you probably took it home darryl.

I have it I guess..  Want me to ship it to you?

I went out and got another USB 2 a/b for the DAC today. That's the problem with meets. We need to go pm and discuss how to set up a way to cycle some DACs.

To those hearing hiss on the Hilo, I confirmed today that the input volume level for USB was turned up +12 db, causing the problem. Once I got it home and turned it on, I seen the settings. That one problem needed the input trim set to 0 db, the output trim set to 0 db and then the input volume needed to be set to 0 db. I had only done the first two........sorry!

This means I will make it available to the next meet with Jason.
