I'd love a ZP3 as well but I'm trying to avoid the need for a step up transformer.

Want?!!  I get that!!  biggrin.gif

Why would I WANT a step up transformer? You would actually NEED one to run a LOMC cart with the ZP3.

OK...Good point.... It is a cool device though!

It looks like Steve has preference on Jupiter Cap instead of V-Cap recently. I have asked to have my CSP2+ modified with V-Cap, but Steve advised me that Jupiter Cap sounds better.

Don't know what makes him to change the option in terms of sounding.

I talked with Steve about that a while ago, and he has been testing Jupiters for a while and determined that they do sound better... More open and revealing.

Are the Jupiters Cryo Treated Beeswax? I ask because they come standard on the Taboo with V-caps as an option for $$ more.

Yes, it is. You can see them in the shots of this thread. I wrote to Steve when I ordered my CSP2+ for more info regarding V-Cap, but he advised me to use Jupiter finally due to better sound in his view.

It is, I would recommend to have this mod if affordable, only he still hasn't put them up as option in order pages. Just write to him before placing the order. I trust him completely, he is the only guy knows the devices much better than us.

Hello,

I have been a Decware customer for 4+years now

I have a CSP2 pre/headphone and the Taboo with Hazen grid mod, but no headphone output

Sadly, the Taboo is on the sidelines, because I listen to my Magenpean 1.7's so often,  my Hornshoppe Horns + Cube sub/Taboo combo is idle....

Would like to demo some Zu speakers on the Taboo

The CSP2 continues to be a work-horse in my system....lots of headphone usage, and sometimes as a pre>SS amps in my 2channel rig

(tube compliment in my CSP2 is 1950's 5U4G rectifier, (2) Mullard CV-4109 output, and Telefunken E88CC input)

....I used the stock Russian 6N1P Voshod (1981) input tube for 3+years....awesome low-noise, warm, merciless mid-range detail, cheap tube

, I am sad to see it go, replaced by a fancy more expensive W.German tube....

............it was a good run, she (6N1P) fought off many more expensive attempts  at being supplanted by other 6N1P's and a mid-range cost Amperex and Mullard

Just bought the Tele E88CC from Upscale Audio,...What a perfect tube....worth the cost

The only upgrade I have done with the CSP2 , I sent it in to have the stepped-attenuator installed....more transparent than the original

I am thinking about sending in the CSP2 for the Jupiters...would be interesting to see if I can get more out of an already "perfect" happy_face1.gif  piece of audio gear....

I am worried that it might change the sound to something I don't like....however I doubt it, Steve isn't one to offer an upgrade that is pointless

oh, and great thread by the way L3000.gif

pebpeb, my time at Decware showed that they are very open and straight forward about their gear. If you have a question about whether a mod would be beneficial I would call (Don't e-mail..very slow) Steve and ask him about what you are considering. If he believes it is a good move he will tell you.

I love your tube choices. The cheap stock 6N1P is a great tube!
