I've just gotten home from my local hifi store, and while I was in the store, I had an epiphany. I've always thought of amps as a way to incrementally boost the sound coming out of headphones, but boy was I wrong! I stood in the store for almost half-an-hour listening to a pair of high-end Denon headphones, switching between going directly into my iPhone, and through the amp, wich was an Argon HA2 tube amp. I was literally blown away, it was amazing! The sound quality was dramatically increased, and the headphones sounded 10x as good listening to them through the amp. As soon as I get some money, I'll rush to the store and buy me an amp, because it truly makes music sound much better.
A noobs amazing experience with a tube amplifier

Sounds great. Discovering a nice tube amp for the first time can be a wonderful revelation. Especially when listening to acoustic instruments. I've been to exposed to a lot of live music un amped like trumpets, stand up basses, etc... and if you have a good tube amp, it helps.
