SMD Soldering Help

I have soldered SMD several times.  But I have a board now where the pads are outside the width of the IC chip,  has anyone ever encountered this?  Is it a bad board or a new method I haven't encountered any suggestions?

What's the board and what's the IC?

Sounds like you may have the wrong package.....

PCM1704,  I don't think the package has ever changed, I bought these last year

Sorry, but are you sure both the board and IC are the same PCM1704? May it possible the board need a PCM1794??

1704 package is 20PIN SO, and 1794 is 28PIN SO, a little bit wider...
