We have some new shots coming in. Here's a teaser:

Took me a while to warm up to Cavalli's new look, as I really liked the fun splashes of color on the original LF and LL.

The new amps however are gorgeous. Those recent photos do a good job at capturing some of it, but you have to see them in person to get the full effect. The feel of the casework for instance is some of the highest quality I've ever encountered, and the subtle contrast between it and the front panel is nice. On that note, the LL2's front panel is an improvement over the LG's in my opinion. While it looks mostly the same, Dr. Cavalli decided to go for slightly more visible etching which is a better balance between visibility and "stealth." Also it's less prone to smudges; you might not expect a matte metal surface like that to be a smudge magnet, but it's kind of like a suede jacket in that respect. The volume control has very good knob feel (tee hee), and the white LEDs aren't too bright in my opinion.

Of course none of this would matter much if the amps in question didn't sound fantastic, and in my opinion they sound even better than they look.

My production LL2 arrived yesterday. SN # 001.

Glad to have this beautiful amplifier back on my audio rack. This morning I've been listening with the SR-007, still my personal favorite of the Stax family, and I'm pleased to report total satisfaction on my end.

I've been able to finally compare the LL2 side-by-side with the Electra as well. While the latter is a truly magnificent amp with its own particular virtues, the LL2 remains my personal favorite among stat amps.

Oh, and Dr. Cavalli has added a nice little flourish to the production amps in the form of an inlayed yin-yang logo on the top cover of the amp. It's a nice little embellishment and doesn't detract from the overall understated elegance of it all.

Congrats! Looking forward to your thoughts over the next few weeks. May I please have a reminder again, is your SR-007Mk1 or Mk2? Cheers.

I have the SR-007mk1 and SR-007mk2. The LL2 does an exceptional job with both, though I still prefer the overall balance of the original SR-007 slightly.

FINALLY!
LLmk2 #5 just installed and warming up smily_headphones1.gif

I noticed the yin/yang logo is not on the front plate, and the one on the top plate has white print...

Are people using the LL with single ended inputs (non XLRs)? Would you say it sounds fine with these? Thanks.

It actually sounds very good with SE inputs.

For that extra inch, it’s just a tad better with fully balanced inputs. : )

And note, in the LL2, unlike LL1, you don’t lose half the gain in SE mode, because there is a built-in phase splitter in the front end.

OK, thank you very much.
