I am interested in purchasing these ATH headphones. However, I am wondering what the differences are (if any) between the different colors of ATH-M50's. I think I like the white ones' looks the best, but are the silver ones a better set of headphones?

Also on the subject of ATH phones, are the ATH-PRO500MK2RD's better or worse than ATH-M50's?

I already have some great IEMs but am looking for a more comfortable phones that have two features:
  • no bump the cable and hear it "stethoscope" effect. Mainly due to playing the guitar and singing.
  • no wearing earplugs feeling. I want to hear a little bit of what's going on around me.

M50s>mk2 for comfort. How well do you want to hear what's going on around you (with or without music)?
As for the stethoscope, you'd probably want a coiled cable version.

Just got my m50wh and they look pretty sharp.  Like you, I have a decent number of iems, and wanted to try something different.  My only concern with the white version, is that the headphone and the included bag will likely get dirty easily.

The main difference between the classic M50's vs the new models are the pads, they feel more comfy.

Does straight and coiled cable makes any difference in sound quality and character?
