biggrin.gif. Been putting this off but finally decided its now or never, found a refurbed pair on amazon supposed to be like new with new warranty, The seller has tons of senns for sale so I'm hoping his description is good

I've been listening to hd439 from bestbuy and they show promise, but feel really closed in, I'm hoping the 650"s open up some soundstage. I'm used to home stereo but we lost out home so im looking to stay mobile with a setup . And hopefully get some resemblance of soundstage ( the stage was a driving factor in my previous setups, no soundstage = looking for new home)

Next will be an amp !!!

Got them for 359 plus 12.00 shipping, I really wanted to buy brand new just could not justify the extra 150.00 right now

Just got my Sennheiser HD650's today. So far I'm pretty happy with the set. I'm coming from a pair of Grado sr225i's. It's a pretty big contrast between the two.The Senns are definitely more laid back and smooth, could probably listen to them for hours with little to no fatigue.

Grado rs1 was on my list along with the sennheisers, being completely new to headphones I tried a lot of the local offerings but everything felt compressed as though I were listening to mono recordings ( which is a pet peeve for me) I've read a lot about the grado and the sennheisers and felt these 2 would offer the best for soundstage. I went with sennheisers because they were cheaper and everything I read says warmer. In my experience with home audio warmer = better with digital sources. Keeping my fingers crossed:o

Well cans arrived today, not packed well al all one layer of bubble wrap around box and shoved in a fibre priority mail envelope, the outer ribbed cover is pretty beat up and the inner box has dinged corners, the seller stuck clear packing tape on the box to hold it shut (bad form:mad: The cans themselves look new and so far sound good, I can hear some nuances of inner detail I have not heard b-4. They seem pretty balanced overall maybe a little pronounced in bass but not bad or overwhelming. This is straight out of my iPad. I should get my nuforce tomarrow I'll see what I hear then. smily_headphones1.gif

Yes the Ido is the one. I'm hoping to keep this whole setup modest and easily transportable

Have not taken the hd 650 off my head since they arrived about 2 hours now Only issue so far is minor earlobe pain ( hate to admit it but I have large ears ). Very detailed presentation, relaxing (caught myself nodding off a couple times). Hearing stick head as it hits the cymbals in standard recordings at 192kb off iPad

The pads will compress pretty quickly over the next few days and then the clamp pressure should go away. Congrats!!

Good to know they soften some, and I'm counting on amp improving them they are a treat straight out of iPad
