How do they sound? any first impressions?

First impressions are great but I want more time with them before giving my final thoughts. I'm currently battling an ear infection that's making my right ear more sensitive to noise so I haven't been able to listen to them as much as I like.

I do love the Magnus 1 cable. Coupled with the rendition 1 and my 64gb iPod touch 4th gen my first impression was that the bass is much improved over the 3.ai that I've been using. Fuller sound overall. More to come.

How does the piano sound on the 5? Is it tight and realistic? The 4Ai doesn't sound tight or realistic to my ears.

Hello,

I'm just asking this question on one single post, if someone want to reply, thank you to do it by PM.

I have the Heir 5.0 since weeks and sorry to say that even if in general, they sound good, there's a big issue with high mid/low treble transition on my unit. Something quite harsh, almost like sibillance. To much energy in this aerea to my ears. TSSSSSSS coming from cymbals are turned into TSSCCCCCHHH.... The letter "S" when someone sings are turned into "SCCCHHH.... No need to say that jazz music with female vocals (cymbals + words with "s" letter at the same time), is quite awfull to my ears.

There's 3 possibilities.

1. My ears are very sensitive to this frequ. aerea, knowing that there's perhaps a dip in the 4k region and a spike in the 10 k like on the 4 AI, 4A that I already owned and that had the same signature but not so proheminent from my memory (but with all my other's Hi-end IEM's, never heard something like that).

2. I have drivers/crossover issues in my 5.0.

3. All of you have earing problems....smily_headphones1.gif

I love Heir audio and I really don't want to begin to post more messages about that here, just to know if someone else already experienced that,

Just PM me please.

Thank you very much.

Sly, please keep this thread updated on your experiences.  My 5.0+ just shipped yesterday so I can let you know if I hear anything similar.   I am very sensitive to sibilance as well, which is why I tend to go for the more laid back IEM's, which I understood the 5.0 was.   You should also try e-mailing the Wizard.  The Wizard and his team have been very responsive throughout the process so far.

sly, have you experimented with different tips? If not, I'd suggest giving Comply T500 or Tx500's a try.
