Google posted a video just yesterday:

 

 

 

To me it looks like the future of mobile computing. If the voice activated controls can work as shown, that is.

What it's about 
I see people doing things and a side screen to the right, but what is it about?
You said something about mobile computer... so I'm guessing something to do with videos based on the video? :D

oh- so it's like a camcorder that's on your head except in the style of glasses. Yeah probably. In the future w/ a holographic computer watch, etc. Everything's been moving portable, so it'll probably add to the future of mobile computing, but wont be the future IMO. But anything can happen in the next 40 or so years. 

 

Pretty neat though!

Not just a camcorder.

The display on the right is projected on the rectangular glass, so it can be really helpful with certain things like directions, translations etc. Basically small snippets of information that can be helpful in daily life.

 

It seems its doing more than what a smartphone does in terms of communication (video / voice calling, chatting, sharing photos/videos etc). Again, if it works as shown.

OH. I get it now... sorry for being so slow. Wow. The future has come so quickly lol. GPS and all the other stuff on the glass. Yeah, it probably will be the future, though maybe in the form of contacts/watch w/ holographic projector.

...These sound a lot like Conan's glasses. Which is pretty cool. Wonder when they'll have giant robots and Pokeballs out in the market.

I think I can see what google is going for. Their development in terms of products and services seems to be filling in the small pieces of a big puzzle. You use google services at home, on your mobile....the most important of those things can be displayed on the glasses.

 

Phones can be ignored, but if you're wearing these glasses, it'll be hard to miss a call or a reminder.

 

Maybe they'll also add gesture recognition, so you can make gestures with your hands to give certain commands.  

 

It can find applications in the augmented reality areas too, maybe shopping as well?? You scan a QR code, and it tells you the specs of the product you wish to purchase, offers etc.

 

Its good to see a company trying to do something totally different for once.

Haha...well you can get a taste of them in Pacific Rim.  As for pokeballs...its going to take some time.

To be serious, this appeals to me. A lot. It's not like I can grab a camera out of my pocket whenever I see something worthy taking a picture of, so this seems mighty convenient. 

 

With the live feeds/GPS etc, actually reminds me of the Fractale system now.
