Adam's Head-Fi Bonanza, Part 3!!! High, low and mid-Fi clearance (Nikon lenses, too!).

Intro – PLEASE READ. Every so often I look around and realize that I have amps, headphones and various related pieces of equipment stacked to the rafters and it is time to let go of some of my gear, much as I hate to do so. That usually means it is time for another one of my blowout bonanzas (this is my 3rd or 4th one, depending on how you count, and they have all been a big success). I still have a LOT of stuff I'm keeping, and there isn't a ton of gear out there that I haven't heard before that interests me, so I would prefer cash sales this time, although I'm always open to trades if you have something interesting to offer. However, PLEASE check my profile first to see what I already have...or have previously owned and sold...before suggesting a trade. At the bottom of this post I’ve included a list of specific stuff I’m looking for.

Condition of Items. I haven’t taken pictures of everything. It is simply too much work. You should assume everything is in perfect working order and just about everything is in mint or near-mint cosmetic condition. If something doesn’t have it’s condition described, don’t take that as an indication of anything other than my laziness. If you really want pictures, or want specific confirmation of the condition of an item, send me a PM. I can’t make guarantees that I’ll be able to turn around picture requests quickly, but I’ll do my best.

Payment. Payment is via PayPal and the amounts listed are the net amounts to me, after deducting any applicable fees and after currency conversion. Check my feedback (+103 without any complaints) and buy with confidence.

Prices. The prices listed below include domestic shipping. See below for international shipping. I try to price my gear fairly. That said, I'm not an infallible judge of market value, so if you think I've mispriced something, and you can point to recent evidence showing that current market prices are generally (i.e., not just a single transaction) lower, then I'm always willing to negotiate. Send me a bid, together with links to other transactions at that price, and I will consider any reasonable offer. If I don't respond, you should assume the offer was too low. I try to respond even to low bids, but I have a job with long hours and that obviously takes priority. So please don't be offended if I don't respond, and consider upping your offer or providing better evidence of true market price.

Shipping. The prices listed below include domestic shipping. I have no problem shipping abroad and will work with you to minimize potential customs issues. International shipping is extra. Contact me for details, but through experience I have worked out a very fair way of dealing with international shipping. If we trade, then I expect you to send via USPS Priority Mail. It is as cheap as UPS or FedEx Ground (and sometimes cheaper), but much, MUCH faster. Also, under the new rates, Priority Mail now includes tracking, instead of it being a separate charge.

* Background to the Shure SRH840s: in my view the Shure SRH840s are wonderful headphones -- they sound much better than anything in their price class, especially for closed-back headphones, they are extremely robust and will hold up to abuse (not that I ever abused my gear at all), and they are generally very comfortable, except for the flaws indicated in the following sentence. Stock SRH840s do, however, have a few flaws: (1) The headband is quite heavy. This causes the headphones to slide forward if you look down (while reading a book or papers, for example). (2) The cable is removeable, but it uses a proprietary jack, which generally makes it impossible to use after-market cables. (3) The stock cable is very heavy, it is thick, it is long and it is coiled, which makes it extremely annoying in practice.

I have a guy who makes custom headphone cables for me, and he will also do special mods upon request (several of my headphone cables are featured on his website: http://jeaudiodesigns.wix.com/jeaudiodesigns). He removed the heavy, slippery stock headband and installed a new one, solving problem (1), above. He removed the proprietary jack and installed a standard mini-XLR jack, solving problem (2), above. Finally, he made me a custom cable out of DHC Nucleotide cable sheathed in soft black monofilament that has zero microphonics, and is light and short enough for portable or desktop use (without constantly running over the cable with your deskchair), thereby solving problem (3).
