Pardon my ignorance, whats uapp?
Can't comment too much on it but...
I have discovered that there is a request in bugzilla to allow users to toggle usb charging on and off when connected to a PC or other device (such as iphone). It has 20 votes now. I encourage everybody to vote up this request. It is under the category USB DAC.
I am fairly sure that this fix will alow use of the X3 as a DAC with an IOS device without going through a usb dock. The engineer in charge of this had queried some of my comments on this earlier today. The query was then removed from this thread, and it would appear that the engineer has determined that the observations were on track and could become a feature if voted up or down. At least this is how I interpret "confirmed".
Actually my request was appended to a request from another user in Italy to reduce the power draw of the unit when connected to laptops. But its the same engineering fix.
Vote early and vote often.
I want to point out that I just upgraded to 2.14b today (finally) from 2.1, and finally! I can actually listen to The Cars Studio Album Collection from HDTracks in 24bit/192kHz FLAC without it crashing (in gapless mode) between every single track. I got through the whole set without a single crash, and it used to freeze up at the end of every song on 2.1
I'm so thrilled! Album art displays for everything properly now, track skipping is near instantaneous, weird glitches are gone, and my Q10 Oggs finally sound right too.
Thank you FiiO for letting me finally have a hands-free commute to work tomorrow morning with good uninterrupted tunes. I can't wait...
I went out on Monday to my local Hi-End dealer and voila, he got one single X3 left! Of course I couldn't resist and bought it. It came with FW2.05. After one day of testing with my AKG K167, AKG K701 and my Sennheiser i8 IEM's, I found, that it sounded quite good...a little on the bright side with reduced bass but with a fairly impressive soundstage. I follow this thread since two weeks and nearly all of you who already tested out FW2.14b (incl. volume mod) were really stunned over improved sq and responsiveness of the X3. So I decided to flash the beta FW yesterday evening. Ok Ok, don't punish me because I'm not an official beta-tester (though I would like to be^^), but I'd love to share my initial impressions of the 2.14b+vol.mod:
The sound is destinctly warmer and bass, as well as sub-bass is enhanced. This makes the player more fun to listen to, in comparison with FW2.05. But what I'm missing now is soundstage and this kind of "crystal clear" sound signature of the FW2.05. For my listening habits, I had to previously set the bass to +3 with FW2.05 and now with FW2.14b i have to reduce bass to -1....but that doesn't bring back the better soundstage. In the end, I'm not sure yet if the actual 2.14b is a keeper. I'll test this FW now for the rest of the week and than maybe try out the FW2.1 or go back to the "slower" 2.05.!? ...just my 2c^^
