@razorblader: Have you tried altering other parameters? For instance, giving more fine-grained control over bass and treble?

Which theme are you using, and are you happy with all the circular controls?

I'm using the black theme, I feel like I have to learn the new UI, but is an improvement.

I'm just loving the new firmware (and the LOUD version of the beta :-) ).

Obviously there are tweaks needed, and some more tasteful theme colours (PLEASE!), but most significantly for me, mp3 appears to be well fixed. The most critical cd rip of mine that exposed the awful decoding artifacts now sounds pristine, and is also truly gapless. Heaven!

The (hardware) bass and treble control range can't be manipulated via the .ini file.

As far as the volume control range is concerned, the FW programmer(s) apparently changed it in the source code (doubling the steps) and 'forgot' to edit the config file accordingly.

Would it be possible for the volume to go to 11 in 0.1 steps. That's nearly 120 divisions, and so much cooler.

Loving the new beta firmware so far, definitely more dynamic and detailed sound. The performance improvement is simply amazing. Also had a few albums where the tracks were ordered in the wrong order, the new firmware also fixed this.

Same here on both theme and needing to re-learn the UI.

Bummer about the bass/treble adjustments. Glad you caught the volume bug. Should help Fiio fix it in the next beta. I'll load yours up in the meantime.

Agreed. Responsiveness is much better. Had a lot of tag issues with previous firmware, which appear to have been resolved. Will compare sound against other DAPs as time allows.

Only favourites.

Bummer. Maybe it will make it into the final release.

Too soon for a final verdict but mp3 decoding definitely has been improved and soundstage (wider, more spacious) and imaging and layering seem improved as well.

Very resolving and detailed sound I'm hearing from the HO. :beerchug:

Looking forward to your impressions. Would be especially interested in a DX90 v. X3 w. 2.14BetaFW comparison.

New firmware looks nice, like the way database update counts the files as it goes

Did try formatting the SD card with the X3. With previous firmware, windows would give fix disk errors when the card was instered into a card reader. Now everything is fine on that front.

Just need to clear some time to mod the UI :D.

@Joe Bloggs...thanks for the win 7 hotfix tip over on the x5 thread. Never realized that could be an issue.

Cheers.

New UI looks nice, I even like the red one :D

During playback the song info is hardly readable through the album coverbackground. Is it possible to place the text in a bar so it is readable?

I also noticed this as it heavily depends on the cover of the album. The font color used in the black theme isn't ideal. Not sure about the other themes though.
