The Fiio X3 Thread. - Page 590

I really hope Fiio finds a way to make the UI experience better and quicker, especially when scrolling through artists in a rather big music collection. It's a pain in the neck having to click and/or hold a button just to get to the lower parts of my collection.

thank you!  I actually use it at times to listen to Skype conferences and podcasts which vary in their quality which I prefer to record at the lowest possible quality which is good enough for such use.  Since it generates the smallest file size.

A Headfier described the X3's sound as somewhat muddled. Would you agree with his statement? How are details handled exactly?

I don't have any other "high quality" players to compare it to, but I'd hardly say it's muddled

It's typical FiiO house sound, a bit warm, and the X3 has maybe a tiny mid-bass hump, but it sounds excellent, non fatiguing, everything sounds excellent. Haven't heard a single genre I dislike with it.

Edit: My 128GB Sandisk Micro SD came in today, the player recognized it without any formatting required, though I still formatted it using the X3. Player still reads all of it, PC reads all of it, busy loading it with music now, will report back with thoughts when it's done

Gotta say though, I love this USB 3.0 card reader, took me like 13 hours to load 55ish GB last time, loading 120ish GB in less than 2

In what context was this, got a quote or a link?

Don't know why anyone would describe the sound as "somewhat muddled".:confused_face(1):

I dunno, reviews at the end of the day are useful, but they're still very much going to end up being drowned out by your own hearing

Skimming through that comparison, he said that he didn't feel the DX50 was slightly sparkly and fatiguing, but disliked the X3. May be a preference in sound, may be that he's right, I dunno.

Speaking from my own experience, and never having heard the DX50, I wouldn't ever say the X3 was muddled or overly bassy or anything. I'd love to hear a DX50 to compare with, and with the HF meet on the 22nd, hopefully I'll get a chance to do just that :)

thanks, maybe the poster was "somewhat muddled". I haven't found it to be so.

It sounds just as good and if not better than my infamous Colorfly C3. The X3 has a lot more authority over the C3 in many areas due to it not needing any amplification for starters.

Yup the X3 was never muddled to begin with. Really a brilliant player in its own rights and price bracket. Probably leaning slightly towards a hint of warmth and mid bass.

Thanks for the confirmation, guys. I'm unsure whether to purchase the DX50 or the X3 at the moment. I'm leaning towards the X3 because it's available from several US retailers and thus, more easy to return if defective. I also own the HM 601 and really enjoy its warm signature; I've read that the X3 is similar. smily_headphones1.gif

i think if you have hifiman hm601 .. sony walkman x... headamp pico ... then you won't need the X3

May be he is not too fond of warm signature. But x3 certainly doesn't sound muddy.

First time poster, seen the thread and tried to get an answer from the 500 plus pages but didn't see any.I've had my x3 for about 6 weeks now and it has recently started to shows signs of a fault. I have a mixture of flac/mp3 etc on the player and have a lot of mp3 DJ mixes on it. These mixes would be 1-2 hours long and played fine until a few days ago. Now, when I go to fast forward parts of the mix, the fast forward mechanism appears faulty. For example, if I want to fast forward to 40 minutes in and keep the buttom held until the 40 minute mark and then press play I expect the 40 minute track to play, but the song playing would only be about 5-6 minutes into the mix. I have tried this on numerous mixes, on a different TF card, internal and external storage. I am running FW 2.1 at present. I've tried reformatting via the X3 itself or with the PC, playing various formats but the problem still exists. Any clues what to do?

I am seeing the following behavior, perhaps related:

latest fw

various MP3s

I FF, the "cursor" follows along, but when I release it goes back to playing where I started.  I have not tried ALL my MP3s but it does it on several.  So FF is basically unusable.

Try shutting off the Memory position and see if FF works properly again.
