As far as your feelings about the X3, I am also happy to hear this as well. As easy and natural, as it may be to dismiss a manufacturer completely off your radar after what appears to be a bad purchase, the reality of the situation is that this is not a logical reaction. Now, if several other posters had complained about an identical or similar issue with their X3 then I could understand this knee jerk reaction, but it is almost assuredly a one off or isolated defect and is not truly indicative of the products actual overall quality.

That is the reason for my original post, to see if it was an isolated issue with my device and by the overall replies it was, that is all that i was trying to find out. The product fills a much needed void in the market, quality and performance verses price it`s usually one or the other.

There is not one to update.

I talked to the Disney tech this afternoon and he knew exactly what i was talking about and said it was not an isolated manufacture`s issue as he has seen and heard of the same issue with devices from all of the manufactures, including Apple, Sony, LG ect. So this built my confidence back up in the Fiio product, it sounded so good when i did listen to it, i really want it to work.

Heard from the Micca Store and they want to send me a new X3. Now that`s what i`m talking about!!!

Excuse me? re: the bolded, underlined, italicized comment above - FiiO has the instructions on how to update the media library in the manual, and how to delete it if it gets corrupted on their web page (they also refer to is as the 'database' file):

How to update the media library (pg. 11):

G. Update Lib

There are two options: Manual and Auto.
Manual: You have to update the library manually each time after exchanged data with PC.
Auto: It would update the library automatically as long as being connected to PC.
No operation during the updating process (“Updating File Please Wait”), otherwise, a prompt would pop up which reads “Update Failed Reupdate MediaLib”; after update finished, it would read as “Completed MediaLib Updated”.

How to delete the database file:

BTW - re-reading my comment I realized it could be interpreted as me being 'snarky' or confrontational. Exactly the opposite - just trying to be helpful...

The DAC and amp section of the x3 itself should be superior to the E7 so you can use the x3 by itself. smily_headphones1.gif

Yes, and they are really trying to help. We are going step by step thru everything over and over. If the issues are not resolved it will be going back to the Micca Store for exchange.

Don't know about X5, but they are working on a fix on the X3 - not just on mp3 but also on all the lossy decoder (including the buggy OGG playback) so it will be a major update and might take some time. But as mentioned before, unless you listen to mainly Classical, you might not notice it.

For me ...not much cuz i listen to mp3 format only as i only have 32gb card and need to put in as much musik as i can on it. Added usb function to it ...can be plug to pc as a dac.

Not sure about improvement in quality in other format but for mp3 ..there seems to be some decoding problem in sound quality but I'm okay with it and definitely better than my ipod and phone . No complain so far but my only wish list is improvement in UI when accessing the menu ...sometimes when browsing thru menu ...or fast forward or change next to the next songs ...it just freezes and will need to reboot if can ..and sometimes when it does goes funky - none of the button works ,so just got to let it shut down on its own ..come back in 10 minutes ..the player is off..u r good to go again. Also my wish is that mp3 playback can be gapless and as at now ...it can't.

Just saw the you tube demo on x5 ..the speed of the UI IS IMPRESSIVE ....

That's about it for me ...all in all I'm a happy camper with my X3 and Fiio is doing what they can in the x amount of time they have juggling with launching X5 and they have already started on X1 - another budget player similar to X3 (ipod looking) and on top of that improving the firmware of X3.

Cheers and Merry Christmas.beerchug.gif
