I'm new user of X3, just bought 2 weeks

I spent a lot of time to read the posts, finally fixed the 64g card problem (FAT32+32k allocation).

But sometimes the screen freeze in black and no response even press any buttons, however the music is still playing.

Just like locked but actually i haven't.

Do others have the same?? Or only me?

I'm using 1.31 FW.

Anyway, sound is great!

can playlists be created externally? Eg mediamonkey / foobar.

Thanks.

no. once you buy an X3, every computer around you, including your own and those that are not your own, will completely cease to create playlists regardless of the software or operating system you use.
/sarcasm

I think you need to rephrase the question? You can create playlists wherever you want and have the x3 play them, assuming the x3 has access to all the songs on said playlist.

Yep, one of my concerns was actually it not being able to read m3u etc files due to its various software issues (albeit ones that are constantly fixed)

i had this once.

i believe i connected it to a powersource, disconnected it from the powersource and then it worked again.

you could also try the reset button on top.

it seems that you are experiencing it more often than you should, how many files are on your device?

We can't addressed the bugs , but maybe you can reset the X3 first ( press the play bottom more than 10s ). and there are one possibility that one special sound track has problem in X3, it will be great if you can check it out and send to us via support@fiio.net

I have around 100 flac files in my SD card, no in internal memory.

It happen randomly, average one time per two days, 3 hours playing time per day.

so just to confirm, can the x3 actually play m3u files or are there issues with it?

It can't at the moment but future updates are expected to support them... waiting few months so far, but fixing other issues and developing X5 seems to have higher priority.

For those of you who are testing the DSS support, how is it going? I have some iso that are over 4gb in size (with stereo and 5.1 mix) and looks like I cannot transfer to a FAT32 formatted sd card....and will probably not supported, right?

Fino would need to support exfat for that to work. I don't think there are plans for this.
