I can test on a Mac, if you'd like. I don't use gapless, though. I have a few hi-res FLACs, some 320kbps MP3s and several thousand TVBR AAC on my card.

I can test it, I have different pcs with different OS, I have hi-res Flac, ALAC, MP3, sometimes I use gapless sometimes dont, all the new music in my collection has correct tags (well more like personalized) but my older collection hasn´t. Just let me know

1. Slow response going from track to track. Its very annoying because sometimes it doesn't respond so I press more times and then I skip too many tracks.

I agree. That is the only day to day issue I see.

I added a few more albums and I'm back to having the X3 lock-up during a media scan. Fortunately, I mostly play by folder (album), but if it trashes the formatting on the internal storage and SD card again (twice so far), it's going into the junk drawer. The X3 makes the DX50 look like a finely crafted Swiss watch.

I find it odd that this happens to a very small number of people, maybe your X3 is faulty?

So far, lots of bugs, but it is indeed working and breaking my mind at just how much $190 can get you in a device that you can even personally mod now.

Are you talking about random bugs or are there specifically function-related issues?

I would like to know if any other beta-tester is experiencing the same problems. :)

Bugs related to DAC function.

If anyone wants to see the USB DAC function in action:

I have found the X3 to be very solid.  My only issue was I had was the Hold button was turned on when I got the X3 out of the box so I could not select any buttons and I figured I received a faulty unit.  James helped me determine the issue and things have been trouble free ever since.  I have a 64GB card filled with 2400+ FLAC songs and I can easily navigate by album or folder browse.  My cover art does not show for every track but that is not too important to me.

As always, Pandaman delivers. :)

In the video you mention "drivers", I assume you are talking about Windows drivers, right?

99.9% used Windows OS , 99.9% used folder playback mode. 99.9% don't care about gapless playback, 90% of music have not Tags information or have wrong Tags information.

So, maybe some Western volunteers maybe a good idea, any good idea about this.

Maybe you could make it available as an open beta. That way anyone in the community that wants to help out can give it a go. I'd definitely like to help test it out.

Thanks for the quick reply James. I have Foobar installed on my PC but admitadly I never use it as I much prefer JRiver Media center 18. Are you saying that Foobar contains the tools to complete the bitrate change that I want to do?

yes, Foorbar2000 can do that.

Yes but will it be easy, especially for someone who is not all that familiar with the inner workings of PC's and their associated software? I have already gone into foobar and it would appear that there may not be any easy way to do what i want to do. It's going to involve adding plug-ins and learning how they work and I think I just may wait until the X3 supports DSD directly. Even then all of my DSD files are DSF so even when the X3 is able to support DSD it would appear that I will have to convert all of my DSF files to .iso format.

Just an update. I found a piece of freeware called r8 Brain that was very easy to use and did exactly what I wanted.

One other unrelated question. I assume the battery in the X3 is lithium-Ion, and if so would benefit from being completely drained about once every month or so to maximise overall battery life?

From what I understand completely draining a Lithium-Ion battery pack is not advised and can actually do harm to the battery.  Charging at 50% battery power is advised.  I am sure others have an opinion on this.

My apologies to James, Fiio and the Head-Fi community for openly posting comments relating to the beta firmware of the X3. It was something I asked about before I did it, but that's neither here nor there. As others have done, I have removed my post and will keep all comments between members of the beta community. Should bugs still exist (and/or features) that would benefit from discussion when the firmware is publicly released, I will be happy to share my thoughts at that time.

very sorry, there are some members send PM to me about the beta testing. I had discussed this with Pandaman ( bowei006), he is willing to hlep us arrange this issues ). so please contact Pandaman, and thanks for the supports of all you guys.

BTW, cause it is beta testing. so please report any bugs to Pandaman and he will help us collecting all the bugs, but it is not suitable to open to the public in case any misunderstanding.

Anyway, we need to create a group to all the tester can share the experience and help each other but I don't know what will be the best way. a group which can allow some special people join and talk with each others.
