This isn't a thread to debate whether burn in is real or not, is it? Also real nice post to welcome a new member.

First post or millionth post, I'd respond the same way. But for the sake of audiofools, better burn in using a whole battery of 24/192 test tones for at least 500 hours. Dont even bother ab testing, it DEFINITELY makes HUGE difference...

Dude, post burn-in related opinions else where. We don't need to derail this thread and get it locked.

Well I've posted 2 opinions now. One for it and one against. So if you have any electrical engineering background, burn in will make no difference. If you dont and insist on burning in, it's easy to just use it as usual and then pink noise or something during night time. It charges and plays at the same time so it's easy. Just pick a random number from 20-500 hours and sit there listening to pink noise, convincing yourself it makes a difference.

And consult the inner fidelity articles with measurements on burn in. Of headphones. Which DO have moving parts.

It does have a very lush, dark (as the opposite to digitally bright) tonality.  Analogue-esque if that means anything.  Very appealing. I'll post more impressions when I have had a chance to use it a little more.

Album art is not showing up.

I sometimes here a little popping when starting a new track.

Build quality looks good to me.

Have you updated the library? (System settings -> update lib)

Album art needs to be embedded in the files, and IIRC 500x500px or less

The popping is the circuit connecting, nothing to worry about.

Welcome to Head-Fi, sorry about your wallet!

I'd say at least 100 hours before it reaches it's final sound.

@CH23. thanks. actually is there even a need to burn in a DAP??? i do know IEM and headphone need it.

Listen burn-in is a controversial topic with people screaming and raging on both sides about how right they are. Burn-in happens naturally anyway as you use the player. If you're curious why not give it a try and see if you hear any difference? If you hear a difference you can continue burning-in until you hear any change. If you don't hear any difference then stop burn-in and just use at normal pace. No harm done and minimal time lost.

i guess i will do just that.

I multi-task. I burn-in while listening to music...

I burn in like Cheech and Chong. Everything sounds better when you is lit up by a bong!

I wholeheartedly agree with you.

yes, there are capacitor between the dac and amp section, also some in the power supply. as an 22 years old engineer, the burn in help to improve some spec of the capacitor , the question is whether you can hear the difference by your ears.

i've got the problem with a bunch of files not showing in 'category' using this fat32 card

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B007JTKLEK/ref=pe_217191_31005151_dp_1

looking at the 'info/storage' it shows 29.7gb used for my card which is correct. but a whole bunch of music is missing. done the update lib numerous times. done restore. split the original 'music' folder on my card into

music a-m

music n-z

with no joy. seems from roughly ''T' thru to 'Z' is missing. using 'browse files' everything is there. 100%

so what now?

yours, fed up.
