But one album I copied across to the X3 internal memory. Sounds good! But problem - the track order of the album is all messed up.  The folder I copied went track 1-8, but on the device it is all out of order.

Probably going to have this issue will all 65gbits of files I am currently copying.

Can someone help me out as to how to get the tracks ordered correctly in the X3?

Sorry if this is a boring/obvious question

I had this same problem, you should try transferring the files to the X3 again.
Make sure everything is tagged right.

Well aside from the buggy UI, I think that was the only problem with the DX50?
I'm sure it'll be fixed and improved over time

Oh I'm sure it will be. I just wanted a player now that was less buggy. I guess I've been waiting too long and so I got tired of waiting. I can always sell the X3 later and get the X5 or the DX50 with much better firmware. I will take a loss but that is something I'm willng to accept. I was hoping the DX50 would be less buggy but turns out it might need a few months of work and firmware revisions.

Is it the same price as this http://www.mp4nation.net/?acc=f7177163c833dff4b38fc8d2872f1ec6 and provide free shipping and a choice of free IEM?

I ordered from Amazon for $199. I don't need free IEMs. I'll probably never use them and I don't even know who give them to. I would much rather have peace of mind with Amazon's return policy.

I also caved and bought the x3.

I was waiting on the DX50, but the reports of brightness turned me off. Plus I like the fact that James Fiio is so involved in seeing  that the X3 continuously improves. I also like the fact that I'll be able to use it as a DAC for my laptop.

Yeah for ultimate fidelity I have my big desktop home rig. On the go I can compromise a bit and not worry too much. If it's better than the E17 it'll be "good enough" for me.

I just correctly tagged all of my 2670 music files, and renamed them in %Artist% - %year% - %album% - %discnumber% - %tracknumber% - %trackname% format.

If all goes well, this way it should be possible to play all files in correct order from "play all" menu.

I'll let you know if it plays.

Thanks. I think the problem was with Max, didn't tag correctly maybe.  Created ALAC copies out of iTunes and they play fine, albeit with no artwork...

Still listening to Bon Iver with HD600 as I type, sounding very good. Dark background, good depth of field. Happy so far!

It works, everything is in the correct chronological order, the only "problem" is that the scroll speed is too slow to show the whole filenames now.

May be would be usefull to add a possibility  setup scrolling speed direct with user.

Ignore: I just read your earlier post...

Why not use directories? E.g.

%Artist%/%year% - %album% - %discnumber%/%tracknumber% - %trackname%

Then you only need to scroll %tracknumber% - %trackname%. Or is this arrangement so you can shuffle all?

I like to use the "play all" function, and this throws in all the music in alphabetical order, so if you have albums which have songs the like of "01 music.mp3", "01 song.mp3" it'll play them in numerical order, instead of album order.

Now it doesn't:

Artist A - albums by year, in tracknumber order
Artist B - albums by year, in tracknumber order

I finally published my full review of it today after getting a few headphones properly compared. At the price it is sold at abroad, amazing deal. Truly amazing. I'm excited to see where Fiio takes this series and hope to see a much better control layout.

But I don't think there is a player that truly tops the X3 for features/price/size. Yes, you get a number of 'betters' in the top end HM series and top DX series' players, but in terms of raw performance, the X3 isn't touched by its direct price bracket competition.

I could not agree more. My X3 came in yesterday and I am more than pleased. UI links will be worked out, But even as it is I find it extremely easy-to-use and offering a great price to performance ratio.
