So I just charge like 3 hours and just unplug because it is always showing red .

From the manual:

The charging time of X3

Forced shutdown charging

Power off charging

Power on charging

Charging while working

PC USB

7 hrs

9 hrs

9 hrs

15 hrs

Charger

4 hrs

4 hrs

4 hrs

4 hrs

Does this explain it?

I charged it using wall outlet and the output of my charger - 1.5V 1000mA.

Anyway it is no big deal ...it is still a sweet sounding and rock my world.

I always charge it thru the wall outlet and power off ...so i have charge like 3 cycle where after 6 hour ...it was still red but if you unplug it and replug it ...it brcomes green.

The 4 hours was for a 1.5A charger so 6 hours is about right for a 1A charger. If you plug in a device which is >90% charged (actual figure varies from device to device) then the internal logic won't bother to start charging it again so the light will turn green. Sounds to me like you may (at least sometimes) be in that 90% region when you give up charging it and unplug it. I bet if you left it for a lot longer, or if you used a higher rated charger (with the supplied cable which has a lower resistance wire for the power) the light would turn green on it's own. Or at least, you should do such a test to make sure before taking it any further.

My charger rating is 1.5V 1000mA and now I put it to charge when its battery level is on half and after 4 hrs it is still red BUT when unplug and replug it in immediately ..it turns green .

This is after about 10 days of obversation ...on average I charge it about 3-4 hrs when the battery level goes down to half and each time it is still red and like I said unplug and replug ...it turn green .

Dont know why but still love my X3 though.

1.5V? You are supposed to use a 5VDC 500mA charger (USB standard).

5V is definitely correct (I assumed the 1.5V was a typo), but the X3 can use up to 1500mA if your charger can deliver it (a lot of tablet chargers can).

Actually, the full quote from the manual is:

B. About Charging

The power supply of X3
It can charge by laptop or notebook through the USB port, or any USB charger with 5V output voltage and 1.5A (or above) output current.

The charging current of X3

When charging by PC, the current is about 350mAh (power off); When charging by external charger, the current is about 800mAh.

Yup, the 12W iPad wall charger (5.2VDC 2.4A) and the PS Vita wall charger (5VDC 1.5A) are good choices. However I tend to charge the X3 and the E12 through my iMac USB ports, they can deliver up to 1100mA. :D

Sorry, I edited my post just as you were replying...but we still agree bigsmile_face.gif

The manual doesn't quite make sense because mAh isn't a unit of current, but I think we can guess what it meant...

Ooooooo, that's nice.

I was just taking a closer look at the photo of the X3 with the other, ugly, leather case and I noticed a large external media slot in between the USB port and the line out that isn't present on the production model. Looks like a standard SD card slot. Oh, and there are two silver buttons on the right side of the unit in the photo. This must be a picture of a very early proto-type.

That's not a media slot... IIRC it was a docking connector similar to those on the E7/E17.
