It may just be the hold switch then.

So are you saying if the device is off and you rotate it 180 degrees at a time, you can also feel something move inside?

It feels like the whole unit inside is moving for me.

Will the warranty be void if I open up the screws?

Make sure the securing screws on the 4 sides are tight with a screwdriver. DO NOT attempt to overtighten or over strip. It's just to make sure they are fine in place.

After that, if the problem still persists and it ACTUALLY feels like the entire unit is moving. Please take a video of it with sound. Through crowd comparisons here on Head-Fi, we can let you know if it is normal, just you, or needs immediate attention.

Files download support pages, how to find them and locate the newest ones are not done too well so you may have downloaded the wrong one.

Does the file you downloaded say 1.25EN? Read the file name

Anyway, here is the 1.25 EN FW
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ar2cdyd2c6tralc/X3FW1.25EN.zip

For easy download.

You should be able to copy it to your SD card, it just won't be shown in Categories.

I think the glue for the battery fell apart.

I opened up my X3 to clean it out the other day. The battery is basically just glued to the bottom shell of the X3. Random factors, heating up of the X3, and more importantly, random factors probably loosened the battery pack in the X3 and now it's bouncing around everywhere.

Opening up the X3 isn't hard. Knowing what glue to apply to stick it back and having the skills to put the X3 back together is the hard part. Seriously, that hold switch and getting it back in place took me 30 minutes last time. And I have pretty small hands.

Contact Support @ FiiO with that video. I think that they will come to the same conclusion. Remember, I am not sure it is the battery falling off, but it seriously can't be anything else I can think of that would produce the same sound and not have any affects to button pushing or screen placement that would occur if the board itself was loose. FiiO support should be able to help you either DIY the solution or get a replacement.

Warranty & Return Defective Item:

We will try our best to make sure the products shipped to our customers are in the best condition.

All media players come with a 12 month warranty plus 30 days to cover the time it took to reach. All earphones and headphones carry a 12 month warranty all other accessories carry a 90 day warranty. In the case that a defect arises after the first 30 days of use the customer will need to cover the return shipping cost, MP4NATION will cover the shipping cost from us to the buyer.

MP4NATION will not provide compensation should it take a long time for the manufacturer to fix and return a fixed item back to us.

MP4NATION will inform the customer when a RMA is received and when a RMA is sent back.

MP4NATION is not responsible for any RMA's lost in the mail when a buyer sends it back, buyers are required to purchase tracking and insurance on returning parcels at their cost. No exceptions will be made for lost mail.

This is MP4Nation's Warranty procedure.

I would contact FiiO support first to see what they want you to do. Maybe they let you ship to local dealer, maybe they want to have the unit themselves, maybe they say to ship to MP4Nation

Either way, contact FiiO Support first to see what they want you to do.
