The Fiio X3 Thread. - Page 281

I picked up a Team 64gb Micro SDHC formatted it fat32 and put some music on it. I popped it into the x3 and the x3 said media inserted however it fails to recognize it and reports the capacity as 0.

Please reformat it again. It may not have been done correctly at first. But after reformating, please plug it into X3 to check to see if it can see the capacity of the card

Formating will delete all data on the card so keep that in mind

I am sure this was already covered somewhere in this thread, but I don't have the time or the inclination to search this entire thread for the answer. Does the X3 support AIFF?

X3 is an unusual case where the headphone output (in Low Gain setting) set up to maximum volume (60) achieves almost identical performance to the line output, when connected to a high impedance amp, so I don't see much benefit of using the line output.

The only time a problem occurs is when you use the High Gain setting on the headphone out, in which case the signal starts distorting around Volume 54. As long as you don't max out the volume in High Gain setting, the sound quality of X3 should be very similar regardless of whether you use line out or headphone out to hook up to the amp.

Would line out still be preferable if there is no issues with output level?

Is the LO level on the X3 fixed or does it vary with volume setting?

If you spend a few seconds of your time and feel inclined to look at the first page and the first post of the first page, you will be met with a full specs sheet.

Or possibly, maybe even looking at the X3 product page.

Why, when I could answer you in one word? I've thrown people so much fish already. I'm just throwing fishing poles at you guys now. Learn to fish guys. If a land panda can fish with maximum over 9000 efficiency, you guys should be able to as well.

literally got an x3 in my amazon basket as we speak, its great that some "teething" problems are fixed / being fixed

my only hesitation is regards gapless playback (still)

can anybody who listens to continuous mix albums (but made of tracks) confirm there aren't any issues

Honestly, gapless playback is the single biggest issue I have with the X3.  If your files do not have ID3 tags, they will not play gapless in any mode on the X3.  That is a serious issue if you have a massive collection that isn't tagged.  Gapless playback on the X3 is entirely dependent on the ID3 tags, which is most unfortunate, and IMO that is what is causing all of the problems people are having with the X3 recognizing certain files.

If you are willing to tag all of your files, then those tagged files will USUALLY playback gapless in Catagory/Album play mode.  While they will usually play gapless just fine, sometimes there will be a small gap or even a small pop between tracks.  This occurs once in a while as of firmware version 1.23.  James said this should be corrected in future firmware upgrades.

I just installed the new firmware version 1.25 now but I haven't tested it yet.

I appreciate all the help so far, but really, really? You think I haven't "fished" as you put it?. You think I didn't read the review? You think I haven't read the bulk of this thread and other parts of it multiple times? I explained that i just didn't really have the time or the inclination right now to re-search through a very large thread for the answer to a very simple question. Just because AIFF isn't listed does not automatically mean there is no support for it. Nowhere, including your review have I seen anyone say definitively that AIFF is not supported. FiiO claims that the player supports most hi-rez formats. Why wouldn't it support AIFF? All of a sudden with my inquiry you  decide to throw fishing poles. It would have been a lot less work and trouble just answering my very simple question than all of the other stuff you typed. Took your fishing poles, cast them into the water and caught nothing, because I had no bait.

Sounds like LO is the way to go. Turn the volume down to zero and the battery might last a bit longer but not much of a concern regardless.

not need to do that caz X3 will turn off the power supple to the amp section to save the battery

not cool.

seems like you've read the thread like you've read the tutorials for the firmware update ^_^. people spent a lot of time writing useful stuff, take a little of your own so precious time to read them or just maybe go find the wonders hidden behind the search button.

C'mon I did read them and I have used the search button and i didn't find the answer I was seeking. I asked a simple question that required a simple answer, is that so much to ask? I said i appreciated all of the help so far, and I meant it.  On other forums where I posses a little more knowledge about the subject matter I would never say to a less knowledgeable member who is genuinely looking for advice and answers, hey I've already answered a bunch of questions and I'm tired of it find so the answer yourself. I didn't ask that member who responded specifically, if he wasn't willing to give me the answer he should have not bothered to respond at all. The response he posted is what's not cool, not my response to his unnecessary post.
