I figure its something like that, computer with foobar doesnt do it, so I am assuming its the x3 killing the coax signal in between songs. Any way to prevent this?

Was it formatted to Fat32? I took me 3 different utilities to format mine before it worked. The verbatim fat32 utility ended up being the one that worked.

Yep, I used GUIformat with that (which have to be done in order for it to work with my Clip Zip)

That card works very well with the X3..  you have to format the card to FAT32 first though...

Use the second method here and it will take less than 10 seconds...

I believe that is indeed what is happening.

I did not do extensive Coax testing and so don't remember too too much.

I already use my 10W iPad wall charger with the E12 and I'll use it with the X3 when my Mac is off. All USB appliances adhere to a 5V standard (+/- 5%), so you should have no problems.

It's hard to tell any difference with easy to drive HPs. The E12 removes the warmth and adds some clarity, however it doesn't seem to widen the soundstage, not even a little. If you need the extra power, get the E12. Jude wrote the E12 sounds great with headphones like the Sennhs HD 800.

Maybe I'm missing something here but my X3 seems to be working pretty good with the 64GB memory card....

This is my work flow....

formated the 64gb card to FAT32...  ( in my laptop )

I took 40 different FLAC albums and just copy/paste them to the root directory...   so at the  root there are 40 folders...

each folder has an album  ( in my laptop )

I put the card into the X3 and hit the update Lib function in the X3 menu...

Then I just use one of the menu selections to play the music...

It seems to work pretty good this way...  and I'm sure it will work even better as they fine tweek the firmware...

One gripe I hope they would fix is to switch the Browse Menu...    can they swap the two selections

From:                     Internal Memory               To:  Micro SD Card

                             Micro SD Card                        Internal Memory

The way its setup now is the Internal Memory has the  " Demo " songs on it and I probably wont be listening to those songs over

and over again...

But I do plan on using several Micro SD Cards...   so to me at least this should be the default selection...

I might know more in a couple more hours as I'm copy/pasting an Itunes folder to a SD Card...  should be interesting to see how the update Lib works on a native Itunes folder...

I bought SDHC 32GB card and I tried to format in Windows XP but now it shows file system as 'Generic Hierarchical' and not FAT 32

Could anyone in this thread please let me know if this is supported by FIIO X3?

I am waiting for your response as I'm yet to copy all my files to SD card

Appreciate your inputs

My folder structure is like this:

Card
  BigFolder

     Genre1
        Album1
              Song1

              Song2

              Song3

              Song4

        Album2

        Album3

        Album4

     Genre2

     Genre3

     Genre4

     Genre5

Any issue from this?

I got my Fiio X3 literally like 5 minutes ago. The box was a bit hard to open since it looked like it was stuck but other than that no issues I'll be using these mostly with my W3, JH5 or UERM. One good thing I like is that I can play and charge at the same time as not all players I've had could do that.

I had my microsdhc card prepared somewhat (I only have like 15gb out of 32gb filled) and I was a bit worried that it wouldn't work with the folder structure but everything seems to be fine. I don't know if it was that my total gb filled is not that much but I have it all sorted by sdhc\Artist\Album\Song. I'm going to fill the rest of the memory card when I get home. 32gb is plenty for me as none of my music is in high res flac.

I've read that the X3 has a stronger amp than the E17? Would it be able to power HD600's sufficiently?

I'm looking to get a portable setup and the X3 seems like a good setup without all the bulk.

As long as you use a USB wall charger (your phone charger and whatnot) you will be fine. ;)

I have a Schiit Bifrost, too, and it does the same exact thing. However, it doesn't cut the signal when you hit the pause button until it automatically shuts off. I don't know if this is firmware related or not.

I'm using this card on my X3 along with a Transcend microSDXC card. I'm on a Mac and I've used the built-in disc utility to format the cards in FAT32 so I don't have any kind of experience with the Windows utilities mentioned in this thread, sorry. =(

I have a suggestion for James. Since the vol+ and vol- buttons are unused while browsing files, could you consider to add a fast scrolling function? If we could scroll 10 files at once with these buttons it would make easier to browse through the songs for those of us who chose to stick with a single HUGE directory. I think Chinese users would be grateful, too. :)

Please use a 3rd party format program if you can not get it to work with XP's built in system.

Yeah, the boxes are kinda suction-y. I have to kinda wiggle the box out from each FiiO device because the top comming off from the bottom portion creates suction.

The FiiO X3's system settings will tell you how much combined storage space you have left. You can load files onto the 7GB's of free space the X3 gives you and use the SD card as well

Yes the amp output in terms of mW @ ___ ohms is higher than E17.

People in the E17 thread said the E17 just barely powers the HD600's fully.

You will need to wait for X3 users for info
