Did it.  Worked brilliantly and it was quick too.  Thank you so much for explaining it.  Muuuuuch better now.  Figured out how to organize the music better in folders on the X3 now as well and with the new file names, everything is good to go.  Not perfect, but perfectly usable.  Thanks again!

You're welcome. Thanks to the Foobar author. It's extremely versatile.

What issue does the above solution rectify if I may ask? My brain is not computing this morning.

The one where the X3 display file names instead of song titles. Note I don't have the X3 yet so I don't know whether the issue is already fixed in the new firmware.

Thanks!, I'll see if it fixes a problem.

This.

For example...if I have ALL of my MP3 files tagged correctly, the device would still show the file name on the "now playing" screen.  So instead of "Going to back Cali" it would say "01-llcoolj_going_back_to_cali.mp3" so it would look terrible.  Sure, you still get the file name but it would always be different.  So now, when I renamed all of the files in the "01 - Going back to Cali.mp3" they all show up in that format instead of the random format that all of my files are in.  Now every file I have is track number - title so it looks cleaner.  Plus when you're using the file explorer on the device, it's all uniform.  I never really worried about what the file name was of my files, just that they were ID3 tagged correctly because they always showed the tag on other devices.  This one doesn't.  Easy fix tho, thanks to hoichi for mentioning it.

Hopefully that makes sense.  Haha.

Has anyone been able to compare the X3 with the HP-P1?

So help me out fellas. The SDXC will not work in the X3? I need a SDHD micro? And I have to format it to FAT32, or it comes formatted that way usually? I expect my X3 soon, and I kind of want to buy my external memory before it gets here. Thanks.

No SD or SD__ will work with the X3. Only Micro SD, Micro SDHC, Micro SDXC will work.

64GB Micro SDXC is currently the largest format out. It is not known if 128GB Micro SDXC will work with X3 when it comes out.

Thanks bowel006, but will I have to reformate the micro SDXC to FAT32? I have a Mac by the way (if that matters). I see some 64gb micro SDXCs on sale.

Some need to be,others don't. Plug it in and try, if it doesn't work at first, then reformat. You can reformat it with your Mac.

I think Mac OSX with disk utility may allow Fat32 formating but if it doesn't, there are many programs online for Mac that will do it. Again, plug it in and try, if it doesn't detect, reformat.

I used Verbatim FAT32 utility for formatting my SDXC and the X3 runs like a champ with it. It's PC only though so maybe James could package something like it with the X3 or host it on the Fiio website for easy access and troubleshooting.

so if there is like 1000 albums, how quickly can you navigate through that using the x3? Is there some quick navigation feature?

Tracking from MP4Nation just received.  It looks like they've gotten some more shipped out.  Looking forward to the arrival very much.
