I think you can try to rebuild some of the ID3 tag using MP3tag, under ID3v2 spec. See if the rebuild ID3 tag show up or not - if they do, it could mean your original ID3 tag might have some issue.

Actually I do own a C3 now.

Functionality wise, I think X3 easily wins out. But purely on SQ, the two are close. X3 has much more power in stock configuration and will drive most headphones very well. In contrast, C3 is really clean and transparent but the overall dynamic suffers from the lacking of power. My X3 has been mod'ed so as far as clarity goes, it can easily match / surpass C3, and still provide better power. With the stock AD8397, I think those who prefer clarity over dynamic might prefer C3. I know a lot of C3 user like the combo with C&C BH - nothing wrong in sound except BH is underpowered a bit so it really isn't my top choice (given power is what lacking on C3 in the first place). I would have preferred fred_fred_2004 3 Channels amp running on 18V. Even cmoyBB on 18V with AD8620 sounds tighter to me. With a good amp, C3 will be technically a better match to X3.

Oh that's good news. That's the same impression I have, C3 has better clarity while X3 better lows. Given the chance I'd love to mod my X3 to have the clarity of the C3 while maintaining the power and lows of the X3.
Any chance of helping me mod my X3 if I do go down to Johor? smily_headphones1.gif

Great impression! Thank you ClieOS.

Ps: Can you please elaborate on the modification on your X3 and the sound impact?

Does anyone know if only the headphone out of the x3 is warm?  From reading a certain tutorial on opamp modding, it sounds like the line out is less warm.

I won't want to risk your DAP as I am not that skill of a DIYer yet.

Sorry OT, but how do you think the Colorfly C3 would match up with the JDSlabs C5 amp?

@clieOS i srsly doubt this is a id3 problem, they were working fine during FW1.00 and FW1.20 (for some time until the problem came), i might have misclick something or misinserted something into the player for this to happen ... i will try troubleshooting before commenting further... thks for all the suggestions ^^

They are quite good together.

ok... here's what i tried, wipe all the files in the player's internal memory, removed my sd card, restored the player to factory default, added a new file in my player, manually updated the player... Here's a few observations...

1) Firmware remains to be FW1.23 ( Can anyone confirm that firmware does not downgrade to 1.00 even if restored?)

2) The files that previously show up in the 'playall' list remains in the list even when deleted, but when u play it, it says it 'does not support the format', this is expected since its already deleted.

3) The 3 Categories as usual has all the album/genre/artists 'memorized', and does not dissapear even when the respective songs of the categories were deleted,

4) The new FLAC file (only one) which was previously not in the list (playall), is not updated to the list. So some suggested id3 tag problems, which brings me to point 5...

5) As usual, i can access the file from 'browse file', i tried to play it... It plays normally, nothing unsual here... the Cover does show, u can access the info through holding the menu button>Information... So nothing wrong with the file if u ask me

Which brings me to the conclusion that some UI bug is preventing me from updating the files be it manually/automatically..... I am not sure what started this, but it did happen after adding my brand new sd card ( i removed it for this purpose), and somewhere after FW1.20 update.....

You're not using a Mac to copy the files are you? The Mac creates additional files with the same name as the original but preceded by a "." which are invisible on a Mac (or other Unix based system), but visible on just about everything else. I've been using "Eject for Windows" on my Mac to remove these files from my SD cards - I don't have my X3 yet...I do this for all SD cards/USB keys which might get shared elsewhere.
