You have a powerful rational side! I assume though that if I get really cold feet, that I could cancel my pre-order (hopefully I'm right about that).

Ordering from your regional dealer allows you to have quick rma, warranty, and claims support.

But I know how you guys feel. The coupon makes it cheap, fast shipping, and free headphones -_-

Their policies seem decent... what hassles are you referring to? They offer a 12 month warranty on all products and 90 days for accessories. They reimburse the return shipping up to $20 as well. I've ordered a few things from them before. They seem like a pretty stand up company. Miccastore on the other hand... has a standard "we don't care" refund and exchange policy.

I have ordered many things from overseas many times, I've never had a problem with quality.  I usually only have problems with things shipped from within the usa for some odd reason.

Also since switching to full silver cables (IC and iem), the distortion carried over from the clip zip is really noticeable and so that's partly why I jumped onto the x3.  Been looking at it from the fences for a while.

I've been on E17, Andes threads and what not for a long time helping people.

The terms offered are very good, and units rarely have problems. But many who have ordered from overseas from them have problems with HUGE shipping costs back to get it RMA'd or the time it takes from the day it takes to send it out to receive it again(a month if not more).

It's not the store. They as authorized distro's all have good warranty for FiiO units as I recall FiiO has some standards that they need to full fill. But many international buyers of the small percentage that get a DOA unit have long wait times to get the units back is really just it.

Source: Check the last 30 pages of the E17 First Impressions thread.

James has said that they are making units even less suceptible to have problems and that its down even more now. But there are still some accidents with chance units.

The FiiO warranty maybe standard, but if there was a problem with your unit (i.e DOA or RMA) stores like Micca and Headphone Bar don't cover return shipping at all and they only will refund the listed price or exchange the product. They also don't have a 30-Day MBG like MP4 either. So if a customer ends up not liking the product after a few weeks of listening and comparing, they would be out of luck if they ordered from places like Micca and HB because they only offer a 14 MBG. Personally, if there was a problem with the X3, it would probably have to go overseas anyway to have it repaired. As far as "HUGE" shipping costs and wait time... well that is completely dependant on what service you ship. Processing time on the other hand could be long (1-2 weeks, I've experience), but that is pretty much normal RMA times.

I find most to really not like the amount of time it takes rather than the MBG's or guarantees. The majority of complaints I have heard are from DOA units arriving from China into South America, Africa, etc etc relating to huge custom times and fees for them.

But of course, in the end, its really up to the buyer

I'm sure those switches are not mechanical in the way you're thinking, Panda (as in Cherry MX brown, red, blue, black).  Probably just that they're a plunger/membrane rather than a sensor-type.

Yep, membrane.

HOWEVER, they look great. Most just use the rubber dome on top and use that to just directly make a switch itself. Those are really really soft and toilet plunger like feeling. That they used a physical button on top of the membrane itself is good.

It feels pretty good as well. Not too soft, but not hard as well.

$10 for whoever can DIY some RED MX Cherry switches to their X3 !

Price is definitely right, and I have a middle school son who wears out IEMs at least once a year, and he likes ones with good sound. A free set of IEMS makes it too good a deal for me to pass up for the X3 smily_headphones1.gif

LOL

No. I'm getting the X3. He has a Sansa Clip+, and that's good because he's a little hard on mp3 players, too. smily_headphones1.gif

In the last year and a half, he's had the Soundmagic E10 (got a bad connection in one channel) and JVC FXT90 (somehow the casing came apart), and now he is using the Visang R03. He also has a pair of SR80is, HFI-580s, and AKG K 518 LE. Does much better with not tearing up his full sized phones smily_headphones1.gif
