This is better, although are the thin strokes of the type as legible as some other choices at the actual size of the X3 display?

lol, this is the UI of 2014, flat UI.

OK, back to UI, it is our first time to make an DAP so the first step is to make it easy to use and the second thing is make it looks great. another thing is that the displayer of X3 is only 240*320 and the color and visible angle

is not so good, hope the new UI of X5 will be a big step from X3 because we will use a 480*360 IPS LCD which used at blackberry 9100.

Yep. There are probably specific fonts that are more legible than others on that small a display. Some screen fonts have better readability at very small sizes because of the way the letter shapes work when using few pixels to render them. Which makes it problematic for the head-fi community to suggest alternative fonts since they are experimenting with fonts on much larger displays. Gotta let you guys who can change the fonts on the actual display do the testing, That, and don't let the 20 something year olds do the testing since they can read almost any size font. Gotta find people in the plus 40 crowd for testing readability on small displays smily_headphones1.gif

I agree with others on how the typography MUST be improved!

Real fail.

Just got the beta X3 in

Many were confused at how the X3 'does' music. Well basically you just load the music up into the X3. Organize it of course would be best but that is really just it.

I plugged my TF card into the X3 and plugged the X3 into the computer

And so this poped up

X3 and the large 32GB Removable Disk are my computer detecting the two storage areas for the X3

Entering into the X3's own internal storage shows neatly organized file formats that FiiO put in already

Entering into the FLAC folder. FiiO's pre loaded songs(these songs may/probably will not come with consumer editions). They were pre loaded songs for reviews to show off different file formats, HD files etc etc.

The next folder is my removable disk folder. This is the SD card plugged into the X3. The computer detects both internal storage and the card. You can then just easilly move songs onto the X3 with drag and drop

While plugged in, the X3 gives you this sign when you plug it in and when you press a button whilst it is plugged in

As of right now, it seems 'playing all' doesn't exactly mean a combo of both your TF cards and your internal memory. From the main menu, you still need to choose internal or TF card to choose which 'storage' you want to look into for music

Since then, I have had 2 crashes that I needed to do a hard reset on while browsing and listening.

Mine seem to have a problem playing ogg. Strange loud noise. Nothing wrong the files. Acc, flac, mp3 works perfect.

^ James said that the ogg issue will be fixed by fw 1.1

Is play all an option in the tag browser or only the file browser? What you are describing there would be typical of a file browser's behavior.

Thanks Panda Man, it was really helpful. It seems pretty easy for everybody. So far so good with FiiO in DAP world.
