The Fiio X3 Thread. - Page 77

rolandmsv, I only wish you never had your player bricked. Believe me, when this happens there's nothing to laugh.

It will absolutely be a FW based issue in the non-Fiio player and likely not at all relevant to the X3 which has a hard reboot/rest sequence as well. A bit early to discuss possibly unrelated failures and fixes. Also on the first page description by ClieOS under 'navigation', you should have noticed this if you're getting into this sort of minutia. There is also a hardware reset hole at the top (between Coax-out and Headphone-out) in case software reset doesn’t work.

Do we have a release estimate in the US, yet? I'm sorry if this has been asked, already. It's been a while since I've been in this thread because I wanted to stop over-anticipating.L3000.gif

First post, towards the bottom.

Thank you goodvibes, even I was curious about that.

I've never had any of my DAPs bricked, because I take care of my stuff and don't mess around with the internals and FW unless tested by experts more qualified than myself. Honestly, CileOS is about the only person that is reputable that has the device and he has the "beta" version. Don't you think that the "beta" version would have more bricks than the actual official released version? If there hasn't been any reported bricks yet on more susceptible version (i.e Beta/Early release version) then there probably won't be any at launch. Yes all DAPs have their fair share of growing pains to deal with but I'd guess that FiiO's won't exhibit many at all, they seem to know what they are doing.

So far I have updated firmware 5 times* over the last two weeks and yet to brick the player (*talking about just how fast FiiO is finetuning / bugfixing the firmware, the latest is 0.983beta btw) The update process is surprisingly easy, far easier than anything I have seen on any Chinese DAP.

I have used the hardware reset hole (mostly because I don't know about the 10 seconds software reset at the time) as well as software reset, mostly just to restart the player because it gets 'stuck' or random freeze on music play. So far, not catastrophic failure of any kind has been observed, no BSoD event.

Anyway, the talk of bricking / possible bricking the player is rather useless. Takes Volvo for an example - the company holds an impressive safety record when it comes to car design and safety implementation, yet you will never see Volvo claims that you will not die in their car during a car crash.

So what's the moral of the story?

"Sh*t happens".

after the development of X3, now I realized why Apple tend to create an un-opened world. for example, in iPod, all the music is convert to the same music format includes

cover, tags and all the other thing, and you can't create your own files system. most of the difficult word is handled by the MAC/PC's. and X3 has to handle it by itself. even

it has a 600mHz dual core, but how can it compare with a PC, and even PC took quite long time to convert and sort the music.

Same situation in IOS vs ANDRIOD, you want free and them you lost high efficient. you want high efficient and you lost free.  if we ask Cook to supports an extra TF card,

a replaceable battery , a open file system in iPhone, you will get another Android phone but not an iPhone.

I agree with you here. But there is still no excuse for Apple, with all the engineering might it possesses - and with the buying power of billions - to not pay as much attention to the DAC as it does to the beveled edge of the iPhone.

The latest ipod touch measures better than some 'audiophile' grade players although it still has a rather high output impedance. However, I have been mightily impressed by the specs that the X3 possesses.

where you got the measures result. it is RMAA or AP ? we have tested the IPC by AP. but we can't got any official specification. and yes, depended on our test , not all the " audiophile " grade player beat the iPC, even iPhone.

of course, it is not includes X3, lol

RMAA and dScopeIII

where can I find the test result of dScopellI ?

For the X3 it had to be the RMAA (I would do the measuring myself with dScopeIII if I had the time but alas I have exams) which I found earlier in the thread. For other DAPs dScopeIII.

I agree with you that RMAA has more discrepancy and higher margins of error but regardless the X3 looks very impressive!

Actually, the 5G touch has less than 1 ohm output impedance, just to be fair.
