Yeah, I tried to see how far I could get which was not very far. I will wait, there was another site that had it out of Hong Kong for like 35.00US.

Keep in mind there are no rules for this stuff IMHO
If you like the sound of a certain amp combo or
If it makes you happy go for it

I still find that the E11s bass boost through the line out of the X3 sounds a little deeper than the X3s built in bass EQ. I have seen that the X3 boosts it around 100HZ. I think that the E11 must boost deeper bass than that.

I think the X3 LO to the X12 that the bass is more punchy and the sound stage sounds better through the M100s.

Yes. This is exactly what I meant. So it is possible to organize by album artist on the 3.0 firmware?

It's totally possible I'll change my mind about digital vinyl rips once I upgrade from my SR 80i.

I remember those
Lotta hiss.....

Ok so I'm old (like 50)
I grew up with vinyl
My dad was an audiophile from way back
We had an early advent deck that was quite nice
In 1970 something it was state of the art
Today we have access to high quality digital audio
Much of it remastered from original masters to
Replace some of the early ill conceived cd masters that weren't very good

I personally don't get the vinyl rip thing
It's cool if that's your thing I mean you no disrespect
But please understand your vinyl rip is not good quality because it came from vinyl
Your sound is entirely dependant on your recording setup
Your x3 is designed to play quality digitall audio
I encourage you to listen to some music from hdtracks (they have a free sampler)
Or a flac rip of a something recently recorded or a quality remaster in flac format
I've been loving the Beatles stuff from 2009 both stereo and mono

Then I think you'll see what everyone else see's in the X3

Sorry for the rant

Most vinyl rips have much better dynamic range than CD recordings and CD remasterings. When ripped right, vinyl rips sound much better than those sourced from CDs.

Define "ripped right"

Oh, I get the X3, and I love it.  I've gotten two samplers from HDtracks, and about 4 regular albums.  That's what I'd go after for current stuff like Beck or Diana Krall.  I'm interested in the Stones ones, the Led Zep ones, the Talking Heads ones.  God, I'd love to see the Beatles on there.

I'm just after a portable recreation of what I hear when I'm lying on the floor with headphones and listening to a vinyl album.  So far, a cassette (made with Pioneer turntable, Marantz amp, Nakamichi tape deck) seems as close as I've gotten to what I'm after.  I'm a grammo-phile, I guess.  I love the snap crackle pop.  It's probably a nostalgia thing.

But hey, I'll listen to my tons of MP3s (and uncompressed stuff made from CDs) on the X3.  Love it, especially with FW 3.0.

I have a fair amount of 192/24 and 96/24 vinyl rips, and I won't be getting rid of them.  I may not have tweaked treble/bass/volume on the X3 (not to mention getting ahold of headphones better than my Grado SR 80i) enough to get what I hear on my cassette.  Audio is always a work-in-progress, right?

Hello. I seem to have troubles with my X3. I am on FW 2.14beta(+vol) and it often freezes after playing a couple of songs - so I have to hold the power button to shut it down (with a POP sound) and then again to turn it up. Any suggestions ?

I had the same problem with that version ( when it hangs off with you try not to reset the player but simply remove the headphone jack and insert it  again )

i see your point  and i don't know a solution for it but i didn't complain because i already knew this is a beta version and it is unstable .... i hope if any one has a solve for this problem because it is already a good sounding one and different from the latest version

BTW .. did you tried to install this version again with deleting the 2 hidden files ( i don't remember the names ) in the x3's main memory and then updating your library again ??

Ok, I'll try that now.. So if I got you correct, I should first delete the files, then update fw, then update library, right ?
