Refurbished vs new are different conditions with some of the biggest differences being in the warranty. I'm not saying one is better than the other. I'm just saying these are pretty large thing to consider and a price difference between the two is absolutely valid.

Yes, of course. I was merely speaking with regards to cosmetics. Hard to tell them apart, from my experience. Though I've confirmed several times now, through adgtron (and dakmart) that their refurbished Sennheiser products do in fact carry the full manufacturer warranty, and not a limited/partial one, in which case purchasing a refurbished unit becomes quite favorable.

On the other hand, if ever warranty is in question (and in this instance, it isn't), I'm personally ALWAYS wiling to pay the premium for a new unit. In the end, that added peace of mind the full manufacturer warranty offers is always worth the difference, as far as I'm concerned.

id be wary about the refurbished statement from adgtron and dakmart.

  • Refurbished Products: Carry the standard warranty**

* Warranty coverage through SEC will no longer be available as of January 1, 2013.
** Remanufactured product warranties are only valid when purchased from an authorized Sennheiser reseller. Excludes any remanufactured Headphone, TeleCom Headset, or Bluetooth® product, which carry a 90-day warranty. Out of warranty TeleCom headset replacements have a 1 year warranty.

This is straight from Sennheiser's website.  My friend ordered a refurbished amperior... he had a 90 day warranty card in his box.  Maybe they have a special deal with dakmart and adgtron.... but i think more likely they don't know that refurbished headphones are excluded from the standard warranty.  Other refurbished products have the standard warranty like mics or conference systems but im pretty sure headphones are excluded.

Hmm... I specifically inquired about the refurbished Momentum and whether or not they are covered by the full manufacturer warranty, and they assured me that they are. But you certainly raise a fair point. Maybe they just don't know any better...

Both sellers are dishonest.

Yes, they do carry the "full manufacturer warranty", which in this case is 90 days.

Really? Based on what information?

I bought a pair of 558's from them and they were in perfect condition. Couldn't be more pleased with them.

If they were dishonest, they wouldnt be authorized by Sennheiser and they wouldn't have very good feedback on Amazon, Rakuten, and eBay.

I think by dishonest he means perhaps misleading... they do come with the "full manufacturer warranty" but they don't explicitly state that it's the standard warranty for refurbished products (90 days) as opposed to the full standard warranty that would come with a new product.  They aren't necessarily dishonest, it's just they don't seem to be trying very hard to make you aware of the actual warranty of the product.

Shame, I know. In any case, I ordered just one unit, and don't want to put up with the hassle of return shipping and awaiting for the refund. I'm past it. Back to the deals. smily_headphones1.gif

still a deal wink.gif 36.50 on amazon..........just not an audio related deal tongue.gif Im sure your misses would not comment on your audio related purchase for a while

That LCD2 deal is brilliant.

The offer gives buyer a $150 Newegg gift card 4 days after the invoice. It's not a $150 coupon. You're still paying $350 for the Momentum. It's a nice deal if you're a frequent Newegg shopper.

Cheaper than what you paid for a (Refurbished) set, they are New, and basically $200 dollars, probably free shipping as well.

I hope that it is obvious to all that whether a deal is good or not to any one member surely depends on whether or not said member is interested in the product on offer. Certainly we are each interested in different things and are prepared to part with differint amounts of money for items in varying conditions and warranty statuses.

So while i am very appreciative of discussions concerning reliability, legitimacy and of definitions of warranty terms and descriptions from and of sellers/sites, can we please keep the whole thing like:

1.) someone posts a deal for "x"

2.) someone relies with "Only if you want x"

To a minimum? I don't think i'm alone in finding it unproductive.

Thanks,

C

either sell the gift card for 125 on ebay or buy something with a good resale value and sell it
