Oh, you're bad.

The point of this thread was for people to share their rigs no matter how cheap they are and not feel too bad about them unlike the normal portable rig thread where members, especially lately have been posting pics of $1000+ rigs. And now you start making fun of the notion of a sub-$50 rig as if only a kid in school can use something like that, which is completely against the reason why this thread was made.

Admittedly this is head-fi where people pay more than the average consumer for audio gear even if they are on a tight budget, so $50 might be a bit low even for a low-budget portable rig but there are people for whom $50 is a lot, there are probably also some kids on head-fi too who've been saving money from their allowance to get into this hobby and it won't be nice for someone like them to see your posts. As if you started on head-fi with $100+ iems or headphones or sth.

Lol.. if you get your feelings hurt over the internet (not saying you specifically).. that's where you should probably take a step back and analyze yourself for a second.

I've posted a bunch of cheap <$50 rigs.. I'm proud of all of them. I'm all about bang for the buck.. but when you start throwing "imo"s" and what should be "truly budget" is when you get my eyes rolling.

We already have a $200-$600 porta-rig thread. Do you want a "truly" upper lower budget $50-$200 rig thread too?

just IMO, I could care less is its 50 bucks or 1k+ rigs.  I have both sides of the spectrum and I could care less the cost....if it sounds good then it sounds good.

But if we had a poll for absolute most bang for your buck rig:

IMO its hands down:

Clip+ (20 bucks)

KSC75 quarter and kramer modded (10 bucks)

30 bucks

Agreed on every point!

I'd vote the clip as the source, pick one up for $23 refurb and Phillips SHE3580 or SHE9700, and of course a pimp me up silicon case for the clip. Black in colour for me, pink for Kova and Achmed.

Nope, no silicon cases on the Clip. They inhibit blind operation, and serve no purpose. Drop the Clip, and what happens? It bounces. I've had my Clip Zip now for over 2 years, and it still does not have a scratch, despite having been dropped many a time.

And of course, I'm not a fan of pink, asides from, well, this is a family forum so I can't go there. :veryevil:

Nah, I'm just saying that everyone has a point of view and if someone only considers a sub-$50 rig to be a budget one that's fine by me, especially in this thread. I don't get my feelings hurt from anything let alone opinions on the internet but as it is apparent from this thread some people do - like the ones that were angry when someone posted a $200+ rig because it includes gifted gear. In that regard someone may feel that a $100+ rig is not budget at all. I don't want ten different portable rig thread to cover every single price range. My initial advice was for one sub 300-350 thread coz I can totally imagine some kid looking to get into this hobby receiving an ipod for hid bday and saving up money for weeks to buy a decent sub-$50 iem, coming here and posting his rig and getting slammed coz it's not budget while in both the other thread there will be amps, more expensive iems/headphones, custom ic cables etc. Of course, there is always the risk of someone posting his gifted 1000 bucks rig.

Nah, no silicon case for me. Even the silicon case on my c3 is because the metal gets cold not for protection or pimping.

Oh nice way to over think a whole situation. All those social awareness and filosofical thinking was way off route. I just made a sarcastic commend and everyone starts ranging at me, when I was the one that almost got nailed to the cross and killed on the portable forum for saying that that people over think the whole thing, that not everything ends up on the head gear, and the most important link on the chain is the music it self. Before making judgmental comments try to get the true meaning of what people say and don´t act superior based on a first read. If you want go check my comment history and you will see that I am a strong apologist of sub50$ rigs. My current portable rig is a sansa fuze and a black philips she3590. Now take all your conclusions, judge me again without any context and act superior...

Sad trend that's taking up head-fi members, even the older ones...:(

It is almost impossible to do a joke around here nowadays, if you don´t talk plain and linear you are pretty much **** up.

And especially to kova4a, I exprected better from you, from a now ex fan of you comments, I thought you talked knowing contexts and that you could take jokes without taking everything seriously.... I guess I was wrong.

Oh and this awesome hivemind thinking, with this chain support of a popular opinion... Think for yourself and take your own conclusions.

LOL You're way overthinking it. I take jokes and I'm not taking this seriously. That's why I said "Oh, you're bad."I know what sarcasm is - I'm the king of sarcasm in my everyday life. I don't see any judgmental remarks on my side directed to you, so no need for you to get all defensive and make me read your comment history.:p I'm just worried about these poor little kids from third-world countries that come on head-fi and may see these comments and they might feel bad - and don't forget that English is not their native language and they might not have the education to know what sarcasm is. :frown:

Anyway, I'm way too drunk to be the one overthinking this stuff thus apparently you're the one overthinking it because you're not drunk enough :beerchug:

Ok this thread is going in the wrong direction.. let's stick to fun, awesome, cheap, affordable rigs under $200 :)

Here's a Russian dude's rig. I call it "Mother Rigssia"

I guess I was wrong about you ( re-fanned you btw) but the chain support was judgemental towards us, and being a broke student from Portugal you can believe that I had a lot of ***** combos, everyone has to start from somewhere.

I just want head-fi to be a open-minded community, not a local of fanatism because like those are many out there. I am starting to see more and more close minded people, thinking that only exists one true opinion, their opinion and try to pass it as fact.

It might be because I am tired of seeing the community growing more unsocial and close that I kinda exploded over here.
