HDMI to S/PDIF or anaog converter

Thread Starter

Is this device made by anyone yet? I'm thinking about buying a Sony SACD player which plays multi-channel SACD's. Thing is, it only outputs multi-channel from HDMI. Too bad for me as I only have optical and coaxial S/PDIF inputs on one of my pre/pros and just 5.1 analog inputs on another pre/pro.

The analog converter you're talking about is just a receiver or perhaps you could find a dedicated multi-channel DAC which would be simpler.

Here are many of those devices. They are sometimes called switchers or de-embedders. Atlona has several models. I have one of those to take hires music from a blu ray player to an external dac and it works fine (for stereo).

There is a long, interesting thread about it here:

(I hope posting a link is OK with the rules around here)
