I'm glad that I read through this thread and saw this.  Thanks for posting it.  Just pulled the trigger on one.  Arthur was very responsive to a question I had.

Thanks to Project86 for another great review.  I always like it when reviewers compare and contrast products in similar price ranges instead of just giving the obligatory statement that while one can always pay more, the current item punches above it's weight class.

Code doesn't work on the new Mini-i Pro but does work on the new regular Mini-i

Email Arthur and ask him, if you want to buy one.

I think the original Mini-I may be discontinued.... Definitely email and ask though.

Oops, read your post wrong. Nevermind.

Does anyone know if the X-Sabre can stream DSD via DoP on its aes and coaxial inputs?

No: http://www.matrix-digi.com/en/products/49/index.html

I know only the Mytek: FW, USB2.0, S/PDIF, AES/EBU (Toslink and USB1 cannot achieve 176.4kHz).

I have asked for an answer and the initial answer was yes, but it is being checked with Matrix engineers before saying definitively.

It didn't work when it tried it with my Auraliti PK90 and the Audiophillio 1 - which should at least pass DSD64 through. That was before sending the PK90 in for a FW update though. Maybe I should try again when I get a moment.

How long ago was this?  I've talked with somebody over at matrix USA and he promised to test it out and get back to me.

If you have all the gear handy that would be awesome :)

I don't think the actual usb/spdif converter should make any sort of difference should it?

Isn't DoP just DSD streamed in a 176kHz PCM package?

I always assumed if it worked with one converter it would work with them all as long as they're capable of 176kHz.

I sent an email to Arthur of Matrix USA last night and he said was waiting for an answer from China.

Oh, I was just corresponding with Arthur via email yesterday, he said he was going to test it out for me today and let me know.  Funny that we both emailed him yesterday with the same question, he's probably wondering what the hell is going on.

Anyways post up when you hear back from him!

Will do, if I get a chance (there's no guarantee of that....)

In theory any DDC should work, in practice some of them do not. Not sure why that is. Or maybe, as you said, it's just the ones which don't do 176.4kHz. I guess that would be anything using the CM6631 chipset (not the later CM6631A).

Ah, I just linked him to your post here. Perhaps in the future indicate if you have sought other sources.

Maxvla, I notice in your sig you use the M-Stage in the middle of an X-Sabre / HD800 sandwich. Did you upgrade the op amps in the M-Stage to max out performance and if so which did you choose?
