Very cool. I know nothing about the WS77's, but I'm sure I'm going to be finding out more about them!

Got a nice surprise today.  Package just arrived in Chicago at 9 am this morning and to my door in Minnesota this afternoon.  Crazy.

I've always been curious about these since I am such a fan of the WS99's and the prices being so cheap in Japan, I decided to grab them.  I can tell you Wayne, these have that awesome new AT tuning as well.  I'm gonna let them burn for a 100 hours and do some comparisons with the 99's.

It is surprising just how close the size of the WS77 are to the WS99.

I think these are priced $100 or more less than the WS99's so that seems like a good buy to me.  I like the sound a lot so far.

If you look at the pads, they look the same size.

How is the comfort difference between the ws99 and ws77 ??

Oh oh, looks like an es700 killer..lol
I was using my es700 more lately due to size factor but now yoh show me this!

My WS99 came in earlier than I expected! Just wanted to share that I'm in love with the bass as well as the rest of the sound. I tried them with my E12 first and thought it was a nice pairing, but congested sounding. Wayne, I hear what you meant about the soundstage condensing with the E12 now. The BH/WS99 pairing, however... Now this is a great pair! I'll post more thoughts after I've spent a few days with them, but first impressions are amazing :]

77 is lighter and has slightly less clamping force.  The pads on the 77 seem stiffer but this could be due to my 99's pads being broken in.  Both are same in comfort and basically similar design.

Not a ES700 killer by any means.  Neither is the WS99.  Now if the the ES700's came in a size like these two...biggrin.gif

Awesome! It's quite a joy being able to switch between the AD900X/E12 and the WS99/BH depending on the song or the mood. Definitely keeping my upgrade-itis in check!

It does in the form of the es10.
Yet it I prefer es700 mids .
I sold my es10 since I have these two:

They're finally here!!!! Sounding really good so far.

Finally got my HM5 pads. They fit better than the K267 pads and they don't change the sound as much.

So far I don't care if they look a little silly. I'm loving how comfy they are.

As much as I love my AD900x, the WS99 has dethroned them for anything and everything EDM. The bass is wonderful on its own, but with an aggressive +10db up to 30Hz that tapers down to +5db at 75Hz and leveling off at 300Hz... Good lord gs1000.gif I really love that the mids and highs remain present while the cans thump and slam.

One thing that I'm not a huge fan of is the stock pads. Might try to grab a pair of HM5 pads and see if I like the comfort better. Are they still supraural or do they become more circumaural?

Yup, the the 99's and EDM are a beautiful thing! Are you still pairing with your BH? Also, what's your source?

Huh, I didn't realize that the stock pads are supraural - just how big are your ears anyway lol! Seriously though, I find them to be very comfortable. But yes, the HM5 pads are truly circumaural and about as comfy as they can be. I find though that the SQ takes a bit of a hit with them, although ymmv.

Still using the BH. I was using the E12 for a while last night, but now that I've switched back to the BH again, I really like how the sound opens up with the SF switch. Using OUT2, SF and LF on. Laptop -> Traktor Audio 2 -> BH. Gonna grab an ELE DAC in the near future to see how that affects the sound. For $20, why not?

And I guess they're circumaural. My ears fit the cup from bottom to top, with the back of the pads comfortably behind my ears. I just bugs me that I can sometimes feel my ears against the inside of the cup. How is the SQ affected by the HM5 pads?
