Pretty much my impression as well. Both are very good for the reasons you mentioned- wish the WS99 had the M-100 wider soundstage/fuller sound and the M-100 to have more forward mids of the WS99...now THAT would be something bigsmile_face.gif

I actually like front stage / in-your-face sound which tends to come thanks to a forward midrange most of the time. I remember partly selling for example Denon D1100 and DT770 Pro for that very reason, because it felt like I was sitting in the backrows in the concert hall so I felt left out from the music, it didn't engage me! With Q40 I'm using now the sound is very up-front which to me makes for very engaging & fun listen, especially when you put on those EDM tracks and hardstyle like I love, then it becomes impossible to sit still when listening to music (the ZO2.1 amp also further enhances this signature so Q40 + ZO2.1 is turning me into a monkey on crack literally xD). I'm all about that engaging listen! For me that's when the enjoyment comes when you unconditionally have to start moving to the beat! :)

Although I appreciate what everyone is saying, and although the ad900x obviously does have more of that "concert hall" sound, the sound doesn't feel "distant" to me at all - it is very engaging and present and full to me. I have other headphones where the music sounds more distant (which I am not a great fan of).

Having said that, the WS99's do sound like they are wonderful, and would be the kind of complimentary signature that I would love to have along with my ad900x's. The $200 price tag is holding me back at the moment though, so we'll have to see what happens.

I would go for 200 actually..

The greatness of the sound tuning and tech behind this can. When bass is in the recording be it natural or synthetic. It will come out and hit fast, full and deep. When bass is not present. It will be like listening to a bass light can..I suspect the drivers goes through some phases when burning in and eventually settles to a solid sound once the full burn in takes place..

I haven't tried it yet but I will report back with how these sound on the Ele by tomorrow I am gonna guess perfectly fine because bass phones sound great on the Ele..The WS99 has some warmth to the sound which the Ele will synergize with as well...I have no doubts it will play fine on your clip. With the E12 I am gonna guess some outrageous synergy. It drives fine on my Sony Z1060 so I bet it will drive fine out of your galaxy tab2.

Hey, I noticed that you also have the ue6000. How are the ws99 compared to the ue6000 for portable use? (e.g. comfort and isolation)

What about the difference in SQ?

Well, I think you can get a pair of ATH-ES10, slap the ESW9 lambskin leather ear pads on them, and you'll have that exact headphone.

Are there any authorized AT dealers in the US (online) that sell this headphone yet? I can't find any and normally I order from Amazon because I can trust them, their return policy and they are an authorized AT dealer. I would consider ordering outside of the US if it's a place that can be recommended and is an authorized AT dealer. I already attempted an order on Amazon, Japan but they didn't seem to want to ship to my address.

These headphones sure are picky when it comes to sources, the best sound so far was directly from the Note II, which provided the widest soundstage, and the TTVJ Slim which gave a fuller sound and tightened up the bass.

Does anyone know how it compares to the Koss PortaPro? Does it sound even fuller with more bass, or maybe a more thinner, energetic and tight sound? I'm asking this because the PortaPro's sounds a bit muddy to me...

It's funny, when I spin oldschool Electro with the M100's, It feels like parts of the song are filtered out, this is not the case with the WS99's. Bass also sounds more textured. The more I listen to them, the more I like them. L3000.gif

Yep, they actually grew on me big time after a few days.

So it sounds like these are both cheaper than M100 and may sound better too (for some people)? :)

Maybe a dumb question, but are these foldable? Can't tell from the pictures.

*Sigh*....

And with this hype train I attempt my first TENSO order.

Let's see how this goes.

DSnuts...I hate you man...but I love you....but I hate you.

ATH
-ESW9As for these. I like everything about the ESW9As except they don't have enough bass for me.

The esw9 are too laid back and have a soft bass.
They would be closer in sound to the m100 but even those are much more lively.
So you would be in for a good shocking audio assult when switching to the es99.

Wait, what? Since when did the ESW9's sound laid back? They also have pretty impressive low-end as well.

Edit: Well, I forget that this is a bassheads thread. To me the bass quantity was just right, slightly on the bassier side, hard-hitting where it needs to be.

Sorry didn't mean to come across as extreme as it read lol.
I was not specific enough.
It was in comparison to the others.
I meant the mids are laid back with a dainty extended treble.
The bass is a nice amount but also comes across as soft meaning puffy.

Edit: was my fav still on my avatar.
