My friend tried out my k240's today. He said it was so clear sounding. He then proceeded to ask me for the model name, and he wrote it on his hand... He might buy a pair of akg's, possibly something else if I suggest something... If anyone knows of good audiophile cans for rock, please pm me... And no sennheiser. They wouldn't fit his listening style at all. The k240's are closer to what he would like. Thanks!... I converted someone! ^.^

Great to see the audiophile brain-washing wallet-destructing device every head-fier has as standard is doing its work.

My neighbour walked by my house and saw me with my dt990, he proceed to ask me about the isolation which I explained briefly that it's open.

I passed him the dt990 and played what's left of the hobbastank album. He gave it a brief listen and asked me how much was it. Told him it was 140USD(forgotten to tell him it was the promotional price on amazon) and he said he is going to get a pair too.

This thread must be a mod's worst nightmare, lol. It goes off-topic every other page.

Kind of on topic, I tried to convince my sister to listen to my RE-400. She just said she was happy with her stock earbuds, and I couldn't convince her otherwise. Oh well :(

Well dischord PM'ed me and bugged me about the Skullcandy Crushers there, so I blocked and reported him. I don't get why they even let 15 yr. olds on the site.

Slightly more on topic, I spotted a guy wearing HD598's from across the street waiting for a bus. I went and talked to him for a few minutes, and suggested he get a Fiio E18 or iBasso D-Zero for his Moto X, and that he would definitely notice an imporvement in the sound over running them off of his phone. He is the FIRST guy with good headphones that I've seen. I've seen some okay stuff, but nothing surprising like the Senns.

I've learned that it is easier to wow people with on/over ear headphones than IEM's. Once you've acquired the taste, IEM's seem to become more important.

That's awesome! You indeed don't see a HD598 (or any more expensive Sennheiser for that matter) everyday, especially since it's semi-openback. I got a friend who also uses it as his portable (he decided to go higher up in the Sennheiser tree, after his HD205 broke three times, and I told showed him how beautiful sound can be [with a beats pro at the time, LOL]). I'm jealous, his HD598 beats my beats pro detox in everything but build quality, for 1/3th of the price.. I even like the looks of the HD598 better! Oh well, I might have a buyer for my detox, and then it's Mad Dog time.

If I had the wardrobe for it, I'd be grabbing either the 598's or the Ivory Momentums.

I saw the Ivory Momentums in person the other day (If I'm not mistaking, it was a quick look) but didn't find them to be very good looking, I'd rather have the Momentum black if it was for looks :), or if money wouldn't be a problem, I'd buy a beats studio chrome, just for the looks!

Here, let me save you a Google.

They would turn so many heads (and would be so scratchy)

Isn't the HD598 open? I bought my dt990 out once, can't hear anything at all. Went back to my w3 within minutes.

Yes it is, but it's manageable, not sure how to compare it to the dt990, never tried that one before..

The finish is nice but I still dislike the beats aesthetic. That big mono head band that connects to the outside of the cups. I dislike that and the gap between the side of your head and the headband that it creates.

What kind of environment would that be? My HE-300's on moderate volumes were plenty to isolate the sound on campus.

It's at the train station, pretty noisy i'd say.

The dt990 is pretty much wide open, everything goes in.
